Battlefield 2 was once a very performance demanding game engine, I can still remember the low frame rate I had to deal with when I ran through the demo with my 6800GT. Now, 2 years later it seems like BF2 is no longer able to really stress new video cards for your desktop pc. Even the slowest card in our competition, the HD2400 Pro, could keep the average frame rate above 30FPS with High Quality settings enabled. Sure you can upgrade the resolution but do ask yourself if you're really looking for an entry-level video card then.

Hmmm that thing looks like a highend card to me, ok it is a bit slower than my X1950 Pro, but it does Dx10. :)

Anyway if you have a machine that was new last winter, then you will be able to run BF2 and FH2 on max with about 50Fps anywhere you run. :)

My Sys so you can compare: AMD X2-5200 Ati X1950Pro 2GB DDR3 RAM

Yeah but some ppl have old ddr1 systems for them this could mean that they can get ram/cpu/gpu ddr2 combo without having to break their wallet. Or for people wanting a cheap second computer. They could also spend more on the CPU/RAM and wait for crysis capable cards to go down in price (yes i know about the 8800GT but its still like 190-200€) etc etc.

To me it also looks like the 8400GS have similar performance to my previous 7600GS (which i could run FH2 on highest) but its smaller and have lower power consumption.

True. :)

My Sys cost me about 320,- as I baught it this summer. So I'd say it's down to 250 or so now. :)

Btw for anyone looking for a new Sys, I used these graphs to compare my wishes and dreams. ;)

I recently popped in a X1950pro DDR3-512mb AGP card into a 3+ year old 3.4 mhz HT P-4 with DD1 ram. This is the old P4 chip with only 512kb L2 cache. It runs FH2 beautifully. Online I play at 1280x1024 with all the eyecandy, and I bump up to 1600x1200 (native tft res) when messing around by myself in a level. Total upgrade was $150 (providing I get my $30 rebate). This was just a stop-gap upgrade. I'll donate this card to my daughters machine when I do my whole office computer upgrade next month. I replaced an old X800xt card with this one. While the X800 could run BF2 just fine, it was choking a bit on FH2. Just a little warning that FH2 requirements are a little higher than BF2's. I think it's only fair tho since we are releasing the mod amost 3 years after the original game. There is been quite an increase in the specs of the average gaming PC in the last 3 years. Anyone with an old system that can't afford to upgrade before FH2's release would greatly benefit from getting one of these cards. Nice pics - is there any thread with news on how beta testing is going..?

I (very) recently bought BF2 for £9.99 online in readiness for the FH2 release - have had a quick go online with BF2 and found it fun in that I haven't played an online game since FH0.7 a couple of years ago - but machine-gunning people close up and them not dying isn't my idea of things.

Even though - strangely enjoyable and ran very well - I have amd 3800 + 2Gb + 7600GT so I guess FH2 will be okay... I hope.

D_Day_Dawson: 7600GT and 3800 will let you run FH2 on highest settings with at least 4x anti alias if you have 2gb RAM.

Rad & Sven: thank you for posting some ATI info, I'm totally retarded when it comes to what ATI cards can and cant do :bows:
