Me and my friends are going to play Forgotten Hope and BF1942 on a LAN party but we have only around 10 attendants. I'd want you to recommend maps which would fit for such a small amount of players. I haven't had time to check them out all by myself so your help would speed up the process. Karelia is a good example of a small but functional map for such a small group of players.
And to make myself clear, I'm looking for official maps (the maps which are included in the installation of the games) for both BF1942 AND Forgotten Hope.
Thanks for your help in advance. :)

Zielona-Gora and Arnhem. I guess all infantry-based maps would be fun. You can also try objective-based maps like Midway or Rheinübung, they also work well without many players. Tobruk is also rather small if you want a maps with more tanks.

I would say
Berlin /Streets (lot of shooting, great statics on BS) Karelia (Finish vs russians, lots of trenches, very interesting!) Stalingrad (hardcore melee and close range shooting) Battle of Britain (Pure plane map, should play fine with 10) Arnhem (german heavy tanks vs british infantery, Axis attack, also nice, but maybe a lil too big) Battle of Foy (great map for Rifling and good teamplay, Push map system) Falaise Pocket (USA vs Germany, tanks and Inf- intense combat) Gold Beach (Brits attacking german defences) Pegasus bridge (Intense battle for a bridge) Alpenfestung (After war equipment) Pavlovs house (Great battle for a huge, enterable house, intense melee) Kharkov winter (nice map, needs good pilots for the germans to win) Zielona Gora (pure rifling, total infantery combat (beside one arty/halftruck) Wake (beautiful pacifik map, nicely modified by the Devs) Battle Isle (lot of infantery fighting) Iwo Jima (this map has lot of intense fighting and a rocket kamikaze bomber (Oka))

Hmm let me see. With that many players there are still a variety of maps you could play and still have alot of fun.
Operation Aberdeen - This would be pretty cool as you long as everyone agrees to only take tanks. 5 vs 5 tank battles are pretty nice
Coral Sea - You could probably have some nice dog fights on this map.
Battle of Britain - Same as Coral Sea.
Pegasus - Quite a small and fun infantry map you could play together on (I'd agree not to use tanks)
Pavlov - Exactly the same as pegasus - don't use the tanks and you can have alot of fun.
They're a good mix of theatres and variety of maps I think. Have fun!
I would die without GF

Don't forget about official FH fan map pack! From this map pack I suggest: Cretan Village Chartres
Thanks for the fast replies everyone! :D Sadly, one of my friends dropped out and now we have only 9 players but I guess we can still manage if we put better players on the side which has 4 players. :)
You can still posts suggestions, especially for Battlefield 1942. I'm going to test the FH maps later today. You've all been very helpful. :)

Neuen 1945 is the greatest small map in my opinion, great tankbattles but it not sure that you have an advantage if you sit in a tank, you could do much as infantry!
Pegasus and Pavlov is great to!
BTW - dont forget COOP-mode! Battle of Stalingrad has for example a good botsupport, sometimes, you even loos against tho bots... :P
The Internet ends at GF

Since you are also looking for vanilla BF1942 small map suggestions(and the FH ones have been covered quite well in thread already) I'd suggest:
Operation Battleaxe: The only desert map that in my opinion has good infantry combat(as good as you can get with BF1942 gameplay characteristics) with 2 sets of three flags relatively close to eachother. (Although on second thought, 6 cappable flags might be too many for so few players. You might end up running around capping flags and never run into the enemy!)
Berlin: Ahhh the memories.... Plays best with smaller number of players as it gets too nade spammy with too many people. As much as I love FH, I do still get the occassional urge to be a bunny hopping, self healing, grenade chucking kraut medic on the streets of Berlin:nodding:
Kursk: Possibly the best BF1942 map for small number of players as there are only 2 flags to fight over, so you should still get some concentrated action.
I follow teh Moo!

Even though you are only looking for official maps, I suggest to try out "Nuenen" (not the mappack one which is called Nuenen-1944). I think it is the most fun map for 6 to 18 players that I have ever played. You can download it here. http://www.forgottenmaps.net/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1

Hmm, I'd agree with Mp5's suggestions (and Pvt. Allen about Cretan Village :p). You would need to specify some rules before starting as on most maps 5v4 doesn't really work too well.
