I used to use mouse to fly planes, but I tried using the joystick and haven't gone back since. It's so much better; pulling off fancy evasive maneuvers is much more natural
You can do well in public servers without a joystick, until you run into someone who is your equal - or better. You'll need to be able to outturn them and if you don't have a joystick, you won't be able to. You'll get shot down, no question about it.

For aiming I use mouse. Firing i either use the space bar+left ctrl or two mouse buttons. If i wanna outrun or maneuver somebody i just switch to arrow keys, much better for aerobatics than the mouse.

Not true at all!! I can fly just as well and turn the same using my keyboard compared to someone else using a joystick.
Sounds like a challenge?

See my edit... Sure, i'll challenge you to try and shoot me down... I will demonstrate that i can maneuver just aswell as your joystick.
Ok, pick a server. (preferrably a European one, cause with all the lag I get on American servers my bullets tend to mis a lot, but it shouldn't change the outcome, it'll only take longer :p)
(my in-game name is: [11PzG] LIGHTNING [NL])
Beast of WarNo shit, hehehe ;) I would have liked though if it could be used to rotate tank turrets, and especially the slow def guns without having to pull my mouse over my desk 20 times.....
Amen, but someone said that you could actually do that by editing the txt file for the movements. I edited it, and nothing. So Im waiting untill they team edits it for themselves. Make any 2 buttons rotate the turret automatically.
Well... After some nice flying with LIGHTNING, i must admit i was wrong :p The joystick does out turn my keyboard just a bit, not much though. I still think they suck :D
Hehe, jep, it takes some getting used to. But it's that little bit of advantage that you get that will keep you alive in a dogfight. Nice flying though.
