There is no skill in the ppsh. You just hold the trigger and wave the gun left and right safe in the knowledge that even with lost bullets due to the awful battlefield netcode, more of your bullets will get fired according to the server than the other guy and you will win. The only time you can use the term "ownage" in conjunction with a ppsh is when you knife a ppsh whore in the face despite them spraying like they are watering the lawn. The lack of skill required to use the gun means usage of the term "owned" is totally erroneous.
Haha so true, it's a noob cannon. Very high rof, nearly no recoil, very bunnyhop friendly.
TK3997Gun jams in games are hardly realistic. The chances of your gun jamming during a 30 minute fight (how long most matchs in FPS last) as long as you didn't stuff it full of dirt and piss on it are so small as to be a pointless and annoying addition to a game more then anything.
Apparently you have never played America's Army. The M16 ingame jams frequently...and this sure adds realism. :D
Most weapons HAVE to be able to fire thousands of rounds flawlessly before there even considered for military service.(even more so with many ww2 guns which where renowned for there reliability)
These are today's standards you are refering to. Back then the standards were much lower. A hundred years ago, during the testing of the M1911, the Colt model wasn't even able to be fired fifty times without a malfunction. A German P38 barrel had an expected service life of just 500(!) rounds. Of course these weapons were able to be used much longer than expected, but they were far away from being as reliable as they might seem, especially when the had a somewhat complicated design.
Well I agree that the PPSH is to accurate at long distances, nothing as annoying to be killed by a guy from 120 metres with the ppsh.
Well, it's odd that I can fire full-auto with PPSh at a nearly stationary guy from crouched position for 3 seconds, at he doesn't necessarily die. Often on a head-on encounter with a MP40 guy the MP40 kills me before I kill it, even if we shoot at the same moment.
I must have a different kind of PPSh on my FH installation
Ok, I've searched several sites in the net and most of them speak about the range of the PPSH of around 150m and a better range than other sub-machineguns in WW2, like the MP40.
And here is an excerpt from a forum of people who own some PPSHs:
"Hadheld semi-or auto fire is indeed very limited and 100-150 meters is about the limit to hit a man sized target."
(see: http://p211.ezboard.com/fppsh41ppsh41forum.showMessage?topicID=382.topic)
So the PPSH's range is higher than the one of the MP40, because of its longer barrel, but the STG44's range (sinlge shot: 600 m, automatic fire: 300m) is about 2 or 3 times higher than the one of the PPSH and I don't really feel like that.

The PPSh has no longer barrel than MP40 Barrel length MP40: 248mm Barrel length PPSh: 240mm
Btw, the range does not depend on the firing mode, it depends on the ability of the shooter, and I think that it's rather difficult to pick up a man-sized target at range greater than 400 meter. Although the sights of the STG44 go up to 800 meter, its operational range is around 300 meter.

"I feel, from my experience with the PPSh, the effective range in semi-auto is 100-125 yds. Full auto 50-75 yds."

50 yards = 45.72 meter
125 yards = 114.3 meter
Did you ever shoot a PPSH?
So if the effective range of the PPSH is something around 100 or 150 meters (burst, not full auto), the range of a STG44 is with 300 meters even 2 or 3 times higher.

*sigh* No, I have not shot the PPSh, just some modern ARs. How about you?
Neverthelessl, if you take aim at a target at 100 yards and if you have a stable firing position, you will hit the target, no matter what firing mode you have selected.
Btw, burst fire and full auto is basically the same... ;)
