I figured I'd actually make a thread about FH2 for once to prove I play it. Today on our server me and a squad, Johannes will remember this, speant dozens of lives trying to cap a flag. Eventually I managed by sheer luck to get into the radius. This is that Sidi flag on Supercharge 64, the like one with the town, but not the big town. But anyway, when I got there I posistioned myself facing the courtyard of the building where the flag was with my rifle hoping if a Brit ran around the corner I could kill him before he got me. I was curious how you guys like to defend a flag if your the lone capturer. Do you like to hide and wait for them to come to you or do you position yourself right in front of the flag read to block the damn thing with your dead body?

Hmm, as a capturer? I as a rule of thumb always like to take the scout kit, for both defense and an offensive defense (after you cap), smines can work wonders, and buy you time. Smoke grenades also for a quick get-away. Try and get into a position where a smg/mg cant appear right in front of you and mow you down, like stay in a window over looking to the side, so you have the height and cover advantage :P

By myself? Never, I will always fall back to a better position to watch the flag if I am by myself, from higher ground or outside the cap radius I can make a better decision about re-engaging any enemy that walks into the perimeter. I think a lot of peeps play this mod as a straight FPS, Quake style, which doesn't always work - I find the best tactic is not to fire unless you have the confirmed shot. Or don't fire just because you can see an enemy. I quite often let a few enemy run passed me because I know I am outnumbered if I take the shot (when alone).

The best flag to cap and defend has to be the Axis HQ on Op Hyacinth.

There's a couple of shell craters on Tobruk (as axis) that are perfect for sniping the line - I always get some team-mate who comes along and does a very good impression of a meerkat, and gives away our position.

I usually find defending sidi in supercharge rather amusing. There is one hell of of a MG spot where peeps won't usually care to look at. So, I just mow down the enemies and end up being out of ammo before dieing.

My "tactic" is always reckless. Spawn go straight to the flag, cap it, try to defend as long as possible. That's the best dose of adrenaline.

Yes, I would have to agree, the best way to capture a flag is with your fellow team mates, doing it on you own will fail the vast majority of the time and as von.small said it would be more useful to find a spot further away to pick off the enemy and also maybe provide 'intelligence reports' to your team mates as to whether the flag is ready for capture.

On the odd occasion in FH1 when I found myself alone trying to capture a flag I would simply spam the "requesting reinforcements!" call ;)

To defend? Take a MG kit and lay down around a corner and ambush them. And to capture? Hey.. I got teammates for that.

I do the same things than =7DR=von.small. And as very often I'm a squad leader, I could quickly rely on my squad mates. I definitively agree with von.small, don't shoot cause you can, try before to know how many enemy grunt are there, and take down their squad leader before the cleaning.

Sometimes Suicide is the best option.
