The worst part of learning the bf2editor is the first 1-2 months then it gets much easier, during this frist period its very easy to quit but hold on and at least for me it worked out better later.

:nodding:

So FH evolved organically (?!). No "Wikipedia like" policies ?

You know, the thing that always sticks in my mind is the British commander ("You must fight haarrder!"). It's just the right mixture of realism and slightly hammy theatrics. Who recorded that ?

I guess it should be in the credits somewhere of the expantion the British sounds were taken from (can't recall the name of that right now). There aren't custom voice commands (yet?).

Are the current devs still in touch with the original devs and if so what do they think of how FH has progressed?

'LIGHTNING [NL;4422821']The British and German voices are from Battlefield 2.

Funny thing how the British voices (from special forces?) are not to modern for the 1940's, however the German ones are.

They do seem rather modern to me. And what the hell does "10-4" mean anyway?

VERY good question... very very good.... The fact that you ask that proves to me that a lot of people actually believe that mods are made like that.

Mods, do evolve organically. It is not like games, where a compay invests a certain amount of time, money and people and decide from the beginning exactly how it should be.. Mods are made by people who contribute a little here, a little there... things change and evolve, as you say "organically"

all the material in FH1 combined, with every little sound, texture and file scrapped together must be the work of over 100 people. not including testers. Some made a lot, some made very little.. some things have been changed a lot, some imported straight as they were/are.

FH2s production is a lot more professional though, its more decided how it should be, as the mod has an "ancestor" to look back at; its FH2s #1 priority to maintain the feel and ambience of FH1, but adapted to updated engine and desires. I don't think a mod for a computergame can be produced in a better environment than FH2. (not even if someone paid the devs salary and rented an office for them for 2 years) The reason is that its not made by young gamingfreaks, its made by experienced artists. The bottom line is; a mod needs to be made by people who rather spend time making games, than playing them.
