Of all FH maps, the largest amount of stupid gameplay must be on Crete. I swear, it seems whenever I go Axis on this map, all of my teammates are suddenly reduced to blithering morons who can't remember to even breathe on their own. To counteract this, I present a few basic tips for Axis players to hopefully stem this disturbing trend of ignorance I've seen on this map lately. Firstly I will addresss the Ju-52 pilot.

1) Please, if you are an idiot, do not fly the plane. In fact, do not play FH at all, or attempt to operate a computer. Forcibly sterilize yourself with a rusty coathook, so as to not spread your ignorant seed to the unsuspecting populace.

2) Wait for the people on the ground to get in! I can't tell you how many times I have been standing in the plane watching 15 people outside frantically trying to hop in, only to have the pilot throttle up and leave them in the dust. There is not a 6-player limit in the plane; people can stand up inside the plane just fine.

3) Fly high! Just last night some asshat flew about 5 feet off the ground all the way to the airfield, whereupon the AA gunner saw us and blew us all to smithereens.

4) Don't fly over the freakin' flak! The best route to the island is to take off, start a wide 180-degree climbing turn, then fly towards the right edge of the map. Then turn south and fly along the out-of-bounds line until you reach the beach. By this time you should be high enough to be out of range of that AA battery at that flag, so you can fly a little further to that southeast flag, then call out 'Bail Out!' to signal the jumpers to go.

5) Don't bank left suddenly! There is usually a mass of players standing next to the door, and when you bank left you will dump them into the sea.

6) Refer to rule #1.

Now, while the pilot has the greatest set of responsbilities, the paratroopers have a couple things to do as well.

7) When you hop in the cargo area of the plane and occupy one of the 6 slots, stand the fuck up! Using this method, it is possible to cram 20 or 30 guys into the plane. Occupying those valuable slots prevents everyone else from getting into the plane and is just generally assholish.

8) Don't fire off your damn weapon in the plane! The plane is crowded, and do to BF's poor coding, players slide and bounce around a lot when the plane is in motion. Even if you think you are just firing at the walls of the plane, another soldier can suddenly appear in front of your bullet.

9) Make sure you have a parachute! Numerous times I have seen players take an M35 AT rifle, only to leap out of the plane and smack into the ground. The best part is when you see them type 'WTF? Where's my chute!?" a few seconds afterwards. Classic.

10) Once out of the plane, pay attention to where your teammates are. Every single paratrooper who survives the jump should start running towards the nearest flag. However, once the flag is captured, stay there! When the Brits control all the flags and suddenly see one flag fall, half the team will rush to that point and try to retake it. The Axis need soldiers there to fend off the counterattack, otherwise all the work getting paratroopers there in the first place is naught.

11) See Rule #11.

As a small sidenote, all these tips are only really effective when there are vigilant admins present in the server. Admins, if a pilot has a full Ju-52 en route and intentionally crashes and kills everyone, he needs to be permanently banned. Same for anyone who detonates an expack in the same manner. Insta-perma-CD Key-ban.

The times ive played crete, we usually have a pretty decent paratroop thing going. I havnt seen anyone blow up a plane with expacks in quite a while.

Luckily, in .62 another transport spawns after the first one leaves (and so on) so theyrs never a shortage of aircraft.

Any chance of seeing gliders in the future? In the real invasion of Crete paratroopers hit some areas of the island and gliderborne troops hit others. The BF engine has never liked towable objects though, so maybe not... meh. Variety would be nice though.

I have done the wing thing many times with a full transport. One time we dropped a full Ju-52 and a couple of extras in the fuselage and 4 on the wings and we just shocked the crap out of the Brits who only expected about 5 guys to come out.

I have to say that the best transport is the Bf-110 or the Ju-87. I've seen 8 people on the outside of either of these planes, four on each wing. As long as the pilot doesn't bank hard all the passengers will stay on and because it's a smaller faster plane when he flies high he doesn't take flak, or at least not very often.

I've played crete a few times, and mostly I stand on the wing, because if the pilot crashes in the water after takeoff, all people inside are blown to pieces, and we can still swim. I haven't seen the expack thingy blowing up a ju 52, but I have seen a kamikaze-attack from a stuka on our plane, that was

I wasn´t really intentding to post on thse Forums anymore, but couldn´t you just make the German Transport plane into a mobile spawnpoint ?
