AdamPA1006;4784815And I know BF2 bad hit detection comes into play, put PR seems fine with it.

PR has a firing cone also.

...and to be honest, I couldn't hit anything with their guns. I don't know how you can manage to get it the other way around.

This might look a little bit of topic at first, but the situation explained is the same. When it comes to dogfighting between airplanes, the bullets spend some time in the air before they reach the distance of the target. Thus the pilots had to aim ahead of the target.

When it comes to latency, it is the same. The bullets got some hang-time, depending on your ping. The ping determines how long it takes to exchange date between you and the server. During the time data is send to the server, your target is most likely moving on. Thus you have to aim ahead of the target.

How far you have to aim ahead, depends on the distance of the target and your individual ping. To deal your latency, try guiding targets at small distance and aim ahead. Once you know where to aim at, you can start shooting targets at longer ranges. The more far in the distance your enemy is, the more you have to aim ahead. There ratio at which you aim ahead, stays proportional to your ping.

Be sure to verify your latency for each server you're playing on, then you might be able to compensate latency properly.

My Google-fu says that Draufhalten means "Aim for it." Heh.

The caption underneath escapes me, though... I can't make heads or tails of the translation I got--something about a beautiful hunter and getting in position?

"Go for it", "get it", as well, on a sidemeaning. Undoubtedly the correct action for that situation. The dogfight, I mean.

i personally find the rifles from my view seem bugged or broken, bullets never go where you shoot and from a personal view i have fired many guns before and there seems to be a common myth that you have to "aim in front" or "aim where the target might be going" to be able to hit.

let me say, all snipers around world aim their crosshare ON the target and never try aim in front of whatever, you move the gun using the sight targeters never the crosshares.

i just find the rifles in this game/mod a little unrealistic sinse where you aim the bullet will go,

i think you might have over complicated the rifle engine to make it seems more realistic but personally i know, and sadly it doesnt work this way, remember bullet drop and such only apply over a set distance useally 800 mtrs+

might be idea to make rifles more simple and less overcomplicated, ie point shoot hit. not trying to aim in front of target and trying to test wind speed or bullet drop ect. thats my view from personall exsperince,

Wrong, that is not how rifles work. Sniper rifles can be adjusted for windage and lead, ww2 era rifles can't. Bullets take time to travel, roughly just faster then sound. Also, they DO drop. All rifles from WW2 have adjustable rear sights, and you'd be amazed how much drop occurs over just 300-400 yards. My Gew98 has a lowest setting of 400 yards, which means if I wanted to hit something with it, I would have to aim about 3-4 feet below the target.

Sorry, but if you think that you don't have to lead or adjust for bullet drop below 800 yards, you obviously have not fired a rifle, or if you have, you don't know how to do much more then plink away.

The rifles are perfect, deal with it.

Ok, sorry, but there is no way you've ever fired any sort of weapon. If you have, please stop saying stuff like that, just, stop. There is not one bit of truth to that.

I, as well as Mudra (post before me), own rifles, and can easily knock down your statements. I don't really have much to add to Von Mudra's post, as it is all true. I remember I was firing at moving targets with my garand from 200 yards, I had to aim a reasonible amount of distance in front of the target to hit it. And that was just a 200 yards.

This isn't hollywood... rifles are not lazer guns. They don't fire in beams. Fh2 nailed perfectly the way a rifle is to be fired at a target, according to range.

The need for leading of targets and the fact that you have to aim ahead is not intended by the devs as a feature but due to network latency and affects all sorts of weapons available in any games. You just don't realize because most games give you automatic weapons and fixed the snipers, as they shoot bullets as broad as a mellon so you will hit even with bigger latency.
