PIAT and Bazooka were quite crappy compared to fausts and schrecks. Still, they could kill a Tiger with a side hit.

Only way I could see it more realistic would be for the weapon to spawn unloaded so firer has to load.

That is actually not a bad idea at all.....same firing time, but more acceptable since it has a good real life correct "reason" why it can't fire faster.

PIAT penetration 75mm Tiger1 side (superstructure) and rear: 80mm Tiger1 lower side hull: 60mm (15mm to spare)

Bazooka penetration: 100mm Would match the front hull armor, and penetrate sides and rear. would fail on the mantlet. front armor is also somewhat sloped, so i would assume that the bazooka would only work against a tiger front in static tests, where everything is controlled.

So, the PIAT can only kill the tiger from the top of a building, or aiming at the tracks. Bazooka can potentially kill it from the sides and rear.

Hartmann: how does the coding work for penetration? does the cosine come into play before or after ability to penetrate is considered?

Ok now if your complaining about the crossairs that means you run around with the faust, piat etc. You never run around with an AT weapon run around with your pistol then pull the AT out when you get close to the tank

you're telling us how it is. we're discussing how we want it to be. you should be able to track your target (lying in ambush, see the tank coming, and move the sight so that it is aproximately where you want it to hit (+ lag lead), and follow the tank until the shot is clear). so basically, you want to keep the current system, rather than improving it?

when you have a bazooka/piat, etc you're supposed to run around with it, when you expect you'll need it. the way it's coded makes switching to the pistol more attractive, proving that the system is flawed.

Yes, but bottom line is PIAT CAN kill the Tiger. I mean, how about that story about that one guy killing, what, 3 Tigers with the PIAT?

ww2freakThe Bazooka, panzerschreck and panzerfaust wern't set off to fire in just 2 or 3 seconds. Often, bazooka and panzerschreck needed a 2 men crew to reload, aim and fire, then relocate, reload, reaim and fire. I think the aiming time is perfect to simulate that, otherwise, it would be too easy.

You do realize that no one actually runs around with those weapons and thus never actually have to take the long time to aim, thanks to the BF's unlinked crosshairs (a.ka. the "weapon switch bug"). If the crosshairs didn't take so marvelously long to center, you might actually see the weapons being used in a realistic manner.

mhm. i've heard that one. great story, bet he was in a rush! do you have a link to a more detailed page about that story?

as so elegantly put by AussiePepsi......

couldn't agree more, Exel.

Is it possible to remove the 5 second satchel and only have the 10 second ones?

of course it's possible, but why do you want to reduce the options? a game doesn't become great by reducing variation. i for one don't want it to happen.

since they're shared (you have two satchels, whether you use the 5 or 10s doesn't matter) it's up to the user to decide. the 10s is also less stealthy as it includes a shout.
