Ronin Pedroshin;4605634... Would be cool if they did it just for the hell of it. But the problem would be that they would want to keep it as a special feature of BF3 and probably feel it would affect BF3's sales, since all they seem to think of is about $$$. :(

In my opinion they should expand to 128 players (at least for the mods) now, then make BF3 a 256 player MMO madness...

companies dont do things "just for the hell of it" unfortunately.

Ofcourse they think about $$$.. there are 300 people working at Dice, all need food, clothes, houses etc... IMO they shouldnt even release patch 1.5 They need every cent to finish of Mirror's Edge and Battlefield 3 and the rest of the games currently under development, they aren't producing games to entertain us, they do it for a living.

I cant be bothered to vote on this thing as it isnt a vote, just a chainmail which will end up in DiCEs spam-box, but I would vote no for this.

I'm mostly refering to EA, not Dice, since EA has money as its top priority and when they control Dice to meet their greedy needs they screw up their games by forcing rushed releases.

And I mean it's all they seem to think about. They are supposed to produce games to entertain us and, in return, we give them $$$. A good professional shouldn't only care about the money, but more importantly care about their customers and earning their trust for future profit. If that's the job they wanted they should be happy in doing it, not just because they want money. It's like going to see a doctor that doesn't really care what happens to you or not, he just wants to see the $$$ roll in.

I agree with you 110%

Im just being desillusioned by years of modding and mapping.

Also its not just the company(ies) its also lazy people with short attentions-span and many other things that makes a mod community hard to survive. Battlefield (1942, Vietnam, 2 and 2142) are all hard to maintain a mod for... 90% of them have died, many are very good... but its not just the lack of mod support from dice and EA, its also players abandoning just because a newer game is out.

If EA's new system (Their "steam") will make it easier to for ex. locate players, servers, and download custom maps.. then that will be a big boost for BF modding.. especially with BF3 in the future.

So let's just see...
