I dont think FH2 is loosing its appeal because of BF2 i think its loosing its appeal just simply by the way it is now. Many players who joined the FH1 late in the game got tons of weapons, tons of maps, tons of veichles and so on. But now (being the first release off course) you only get a few maps/weapons/veichles etc. Me myself got sick and tired of the super boring maps that was in this initial release so i am not playing it at the moment. Therefor i think alot of players including myself and alot of my friends is waiting for a patch to arrive to bring some new maps and equipment, and hopefully a new scene. I am checking the FH homepage/forum every day to look for any new updates there might be. And i really hope a patch will be released soon and bring some new life to the game. Because if it doesnt im afraid that people are going to forget the mod. I know some of you will disagree and tell me that the interested fh players will continue playing, but as a hardcore fh player myself i would like some more players then just the small amount of hardcore-fh'ers so it can be more then 2-3 servers active at one time.

Toddel;4224969Pacific ? no sry. to the rest well you cannot compare fh2 to fh1 . i can say allways again. we have not 20 maps made from dice. i will say it here again: we have not enough hands to make you guys happy. and iwe will not have more hands in the future its possible that we never go to a third Theatre.

Im just curious, how many less modders are you in FH2 then FH1? why is there such a problem finding new modders is the BF2 engine hard to work with? people doesnt got time? big demands of skill from the existing team against new members? /JeppeK

My opinion on it. FH2 never made a choice. PR did and it seems to grow (also) because they made a distinctive choice.

FH2 simply is too arcadish for players like me and too realistic in general for BF2-players. IMO that's the bottom-line.

I do hope some things change gameplay wise. Adding another theater just is not enough IMO if the core gameplay doesn't change. All a matter of taste of course.

Another possible reason for the weakening of player numbers, which hasn't been mentioned yet, could be the absence of the american forces ingame.

If you consider most of the potential players living either in europe or northern america I think (or hope at least) that the player numbers will soon rise as soon as the us-forces will join fh2.

This is... somewhat disturbing news, I think. With "hands" you refer to mappers only, or also other stuff like coding, skinning, modeling?

You might very well think that

I kind of figured a while back we wouldn't ever see a 'complete' FH2, and actually guessed we'd only get North Africa. The team was down to five people in late 2007 (according to ctz somewhere). It's a shame, but we can all rest assured that anything the FH2 team DOES produce will be top-notch as ever.

As for FH2, this afternoon, I hate to say it, but I stopped playing out of boredom. When the wrong people get together on the only populated servers and play poorly coordinated endless games of El Alamein (great map, shit players), FH2 I'm afraid loses its appeal for me.

I've stopped playing FH2... and gone back to playing FH. Seems to me that the original Forgotten Hope has more players. It also has more teamwork than FH2 atleast in public server play. FH2 was fun for a while. It was new. It had some neat features. Now it's just boring and annoying. Waiting for the western front and Omaha like many many others. Until then, see you on the Forgotten Hope battlefield!

Such defeatist comments from so-called "loyal followers".

Let's not forget how long it took FH1 to reach completion.

Be patient, but more importantly be supportive.

The gameplay is great, I really love it. The realism I think is perfect! except for perhaps a few things that could be a bit more realistic. and the maps are truly great! Although, I'm also starting to lose a bit of interest in FH2, but that happens to all games i play after a couple of weeks. Right when we get even one new map (just downloaded the custom made map "Nile Delta" which looks great and I really want to play it with 63 other players) my spark will be lighted again. for a while, and it will go up and down. The thing that makes me quit playing out of boredom, is only due to the often worthless teamwork, I played earlier today and then i had some great teamwork in hslan (For once!), but the server soon was restarted and all were disconnected... especially since most people only play hslan, where voip is deactivated, I think there will only be good teamplay on tournaments and clan fights.

I do agree with many of the posted reasons for less players, But I'm fairly sure that more people will come when we get more maps.

Toddel;4224969we have not enough hands to make you guys happy. and if we will not have more hands in the future its possible that we never go to a third Theatre.

that makes me sad to hear... perhaps when FH2 get more interest there will be more people wanting to be a part of it. I'm more than happy! so that makes at least one!

Just realized, FH2 is only 2 months old, now i'm no expert in mod-popularity, but perhaps not many people know of it yet? when it grows bigger mroe people will probably learn about it. I learnt about fh1 in the late spring not even a year ago! and look at me now!:)
