To be completely honest, I never could understand why or how people can compared PR to FH2. The only thing they share is an engine and a general gaming community. That is it. Period.

Both mods are great, but they are completely different entities that represent COMPLETELY different forms of warfare. PR is intended to capture the tactical, precise, and coordinated combat of modern warfare in a video game. It's main job is to enforce teamwork between combined arms on a very small scale in an almost surgical manner. It does its job by trying to best represent warfare in the modern age.

FH2 is something complete different. It's purpose (at least from what I've gathered from years of experience and the About page) is to accurately depict battles of the second World War in a historically accurate and mostly realistic manner. It's main focus can be summed up one word: authenticity. FH2 strives to be historically authentic and situationally authentic to the time period it represents.

WWII combat shares little similarities with modern combat. Everything from weapons, technology, communications, and most importantly, strategy has changed in dramatic ways ever since. You will die a lot in FH2, because in reality, WWII battles were fought more crudely and primitive than battles of today. There were no surgical strikes, no tactical covert teams, no precise smart bombing, no instant battlefield communications. War was methodical, and has certainly grown from that period.

The whole point of the matter is, comparing FH2 to PR is like sizing up apples to candle sticks. They are completely unrelated. So, stop doing it, unless you are just talking about player base. Both mods represent totally different realms of warfare, so stop trying to put them in the same basket.

well every one of you is allowed to make your own map. Fenring made some very good tutorials for mapping for FH2.In the past Years the ForgottenHope Team allways help willed people to create Fanmappacks. of course we can not support every single person but i bet if you have questions our mapper will give you a answer or a link to a place where you can find the anwsers.

One thing what you all have to remember. Modding is for the community. so why should their not come anything from our community? i regonized a nice Movement under our betatesters. they start to use their nearby us and many of them started to model, texture or try to learn the Bf2 Leveleditor.

Also how should FH2 find new mappers? if not from the Community? Look to our current mappers allmost all of them are well known FH1 friends. all Modders from good old Engine.

Knoffhoff: Alam halfa (FH2), Totdenbruch ,Trois points, Spurning Fate(FH) Mr. Cheese: Sfakia (FH2), Createan Village (FH) TomAkALilli :Sidi Rezegh (FH2) Soletsnorsk, Stashuv Area, Kiew, Battle for Ortona, FH remake of Road to Rome Sicily, Spurning Fate (FH).

You see all this guys where just community mappers. with released maps in the FanMappacks. you people get it?

Cant the devs just port all models from FH1 to FH2 and add stuff to them? :/.

Yes of we can do that. and we did that in the past and we will go on with it. but its not so easy as you think. in bf42 afaik you had a maximum Texture size. from this reason many vehicles use lot of Textures. have lot of Textures is not a good idea In BF2 cause it makes the game slower. now we have to take all this Textures which are worth to port it and need to bring it on a new bigger BF2 supporting texture.. done with that you have to make the texture fit to your model again because with the system how textures work you have to keep it normally how it is. Also you have to improve the model. lot of the model we had in FH are much to lowpoly for FH2 we simple dont like it anymore. its like a new nicer Car somehow the old is ok it brings you to woek too but the new one Yeah!!!:smokin: so we decide from time to time its not worth to spend many hours porting a somehow "bad Model" we do it where its worth and leave many models in the treasure of FH1.

It lost its appeal to me after 3 or so hours so it lasted 3 times as long as BF2 :D

Waiting for western front or an engine switch before I reinstall FH2.

FH1 on the other hand still has me hooked.

Kudos to ya all but particulaly to Cheese for my favorite map. :bows: What is occurring is what yours truly suggested would happen - folks would get tired of a single threatre and play FH to supplement the "FH" fix. Nothing wrong with that as both are quality products (only I find it hard to become backward compatible myself while trying so hard to learn FH2. :)) Yep, I don't play that much but when I do I try to enjoy it and learn more which I am. The next theatre will come along eventually, other mappers will as well so feelings may change. FH, as I think people are finding, has its own unique appeal and it is really unfair to try to compare the feeling and experience of it to the relatively young FH2. I know I've had to do that. It like comparing an older mature woman whom you are infinitely familar with to ... wait a minute, there are younglings out there...

Just starting to learn the BF2 Editor but ill probably be hooked on it for hours, and once i get uber good at it, i'll start making maps like crazy...it will feel nice to move on from Battlecraft to the BF2 Editor and express my anger towards a whole new shitty program for making maps! but anyway, gimme a month or so...or at least till my surgery is done and over with, and im pretty sure ill get pretty good at mapping with that confusing piece of software.

This making me sad! Good, no, awesome things will happen soon! Just wait. I'm sorry I'm ripping off one of the news updates but i think its true! I don't want to beat a dead horse or anything but the panther tank rumor still festers in my mind, and it is what drives me to lurk these forums and play this game. The panther tank is coming! How could you not be pumped for that? It would be so awesome if the next update had it! I'd probably post a thread titled "oh snap panther done! look who the crazy one is now" :D

My rabid optimism will pay off in the end methinks.

I've gone back to playing FH1 since FH2 has only a few singleplayer maps (I have dial up). FH1 for some reason feels more realistic and appealing, but FH2 is still very well done.

Toddel;4224969its possible that we never go to a third Theatre.

I'm putting you on notice FH2 team. If FH2 stops development, I will kill myself.

In my honest opinion, as long as there's one server online with enough people for a real game, as there's almost always been 24/7 so far, then I'll keep coming back to play. No game appeals to me like Forgotten Hope (1 and 2).

No i think the mod is getting better in terms of team work ive had some great games for the past couple days but once Mare Nostrum mod for Red orchestra comes out i might take a little break from FH to check that out.
