I bought BF1942 when it was released and havent played in at least 2 years. and i want to get back into it. im just curious if i have a good enough comp to run BF1942 and the forgotten hope mod. my comp is a P4, 1.8ghz, 512 ram, and a GF FX5500 card with 128-bits of memory? Also, for those that are a part of battle for europe, i did it the first time they had it, when does the next campaign start, or did it already start? thanks

You will be able to play the mod fine, but with 512mb ram you will find the map loadings are a bit long. Ingame, you might need to tone down a few settings, but do not touch your "texture detail" settings else you will make the tank sights ugly and unusable :p

Hell, screw that. Get a gig stick. But I play fine with one gigabyte.

If loading Arhem and getting 5 FPS at the bridge is your idea of "enjoy", then sure, i will enjoy it .

I've had a similar computer: P4 1.9, 512 RAM, GeForce 5700. I had to play at 800x600, had to turn everything down or off (yes, including textures to low). Maps took 4 minutes to load. And when i had 25 FPS in game (while looking at the sky), this was my highest FPS on map like Coral See. Maps like Prohorovka, Orel, Breakthrough were simply impossible to play due to lag with such computer

But hell, i played FH for years on those settings and i loved it.

BTW, when (not if, but when ) you download FH, find the file called videodefault.con in Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings and add the following line to the botton: renderer.mipmapbias -8. This will fix the issue of tank sights at low textures

If you're getting back into FH you should know that that computer won't be good enough for FH2.

But he's asking about Forgotten Hope, I would also suggest 1 gig stick of RAM.:D

No, the original BFE campaigns were on Vanilla (campaigns 1-5) so hes saying hes getting back into BF42 not FH I believe. That comp might run it, but not well or even palyable on some maps. And BFE has ended its 11th campaign and are currently in a state of stasis until things can be planned for the future on BF2. The community is still there but for the moment there is no campaign starting.
