What do you guys think about this addition to .62? Will it be an officers weapon? What about the range of the weapon (greater than a knife)? I think it will be a pretty cool addition, but dont try any of that ninja crap with me. I will go Indiana Jones on you, i promise.

YAY, forums are back up!

Anyway, only the officer gets the katana, and it will have more range and damadge than ordinary knifes. I think they'll be fun to use.

I wonder if we could ever get enough cooperation to have the entire Japanese team draw their swords and attack American positions.

should be pretty brutal in close quarters. Alot of knifers in BFE and the Evil Foods will enjoy it.

I think the Katana will be a good thing. Although not really effective, it will be a Japanese only thing that will make them more interesting and fun to play.

I think I will have quite a few fun rounds of Katana only. I will even try to get a 1-1 KDR with them ;)

Oh please oh please oh PLEASE let the bayonets work too. :) It'd be AWESOME to have suicidal Japanese charges led by katana-wielding officers.

Incidentally, the katanas used by Japanese officers are CRAP weapons. They're not your 16th century steel-folded-600-times swords. They're like the junk you see on QVC....not that I WATCH QVC mind you....(runs off to hastily sell his "Ultimate Golden Dragon" katana...)

Ok. I'm back (got a nice $40 for the sword, thanks). ANYWAY, those katanas did suck. They're more like the Marine ceremonial sword than anything else. Also, it's not like the officers were trained as samurai to actually effectively USE the things. If they went up against someone who'd had training and a decent sword...well...go watch Kill Bill Vol.1. "Go...home...to your...MOTHER!!" :)

Yeh, ww2 katanas were pretty shoddy.

And yes, only the officer class has them and yes, they have about 3 times the range of a knife and yes, they will probly have 1 hit kill

It's still friggin hard to actually get up to someone though, keep in mind americans have ALL semi or fully automatic weapons (with the exeption of wake)
