Toppthere is nothing fucking wrong with basecamping, dont like it spawn somwhere else. im sick of these people whining about basecamping, war is not fair, military bases got bombed/infiltrated, live with it. when i was in Recon group basecamping was a large part of my job and i liked it, sabotaging the enemy base. War is not a line against line engagement, your tanks did get screwed over by saboteurs.

On servers i tend to shoot anyone whining about basecamping, teammate or not. anyone know what happened to the 22nd Panzer btw?

Can't spawn anywhere else if there is only one point left.

Game != war. In real life you don't materialise out of thin air infront of the enemy. Spawning is like being born, and even though there were alot of atrocities commited during WW2 I don't think most soldiers spent their time shooting babies as they popped out of their mothers womb.

Your recon group experience has nothing to do with an online PC game.

Enjoy camping empty bases since you can't understand the simple mechanics of online gaming (heard of fun?).

Here is a brief summary of the thread for you, if your attention span is a bit short:

This is not a thread about whether basecamping is good or bad This is not a thread about whether basecamping is lame or skill This is not a thread about what server are better, those that disallow it, or those that let anything go.

You want to discuss basecamping? Go create another thread.

This thread is about adding a "fix" that will restrict the players ability to move around the map. The proposed merit of this "fix" is to stop basecampers. I don't see how this is a merit since i don't see basecampers as a problem (they are easily dealt with), therefore, this fix without merit will only restrict player's movement around the map.

Furthermore, this will not stop people from sitting outside the base and mowing anything that moves. Your beloved basecampers, will just sit outside the base and camp nonetheless. And it is much more difficult to take out a Tiger when it's seating outside your base, then when he is on repair pad.

So what are you gonna do? Make the "out of bounds" stretch for a mile outside the base? No freaking way, you will cut half of the map off this way.

Solo4114Mondo, I think generally you're right. But Badseed's got a point as far as the long-reaching affect of a camper's 20-second reign of terror. If all they're doing is killing players, then they're an annoyance, but one we deal with regularly and swiftly on Wolf (as you well know).

Still, I think the anti-basecamping code would add another nice incentive to just get in and get out, rather than hang out in the base. It'd certainly make a map like Battle of Britain more easy to admin.

In other games camping of sorts is even encouraged. I do agree this should be a server side setting but seriously, play on a server that allows basecamping, it hardly affects the outcome of a game. What does affect it is 5 guys on the camped team whining about basecampers instead of picking up a gun or 'zook and dealing with the problem;). In my experiance anyway.

bob is a perfect example of how basecamping wrecks the play of a map. instead of it being about an airwar. its bailing basecampers from hell instead. and discussing the ramifications of basecamping is exactly what this thread is about. i.e. should we, or shouldn't we put in code to disallow it.in other words state a case for or against it. and its not just BoB that it messes up. fights not suppose to involve flags that are uncappable,the fights suppose to be over the capabble flags and that surrounding terrain and so on...really main bases are there because you and your stuff needs to spawn somewhere. and historically those forces moved in from that direction,there was no base.

otolikosHi! On somua.com, a french BF site, i saw a news telling about a server mod fixing base camp.If you go in ennemy base for stealing vehicules (crap you are.....) a message like "Campers will be shot" appears (similar like deserters message) and you die in 5 seconds.

K that would be just way too cool!!! Then I could sit in my base snug as a bug in a rug and just pixel shoot the night away.... ...think about it!

Well, planes can still do a bombingpass, artillery can still fire in the base etc the only limitation is when someone drives a heavy tank and park it on a repairpad. Oh, i forgot the vehiclestealers will also die. I am for it!

yes all the basecampers claim that..... somehow you are all safe in your base without basecamping. and how it'll be so unrealistic, if you cant sit on the repairpad and tank-hoe people. they refuse to accept that they can still be plane-straffed\bombed, sniped or artillaried. every basecamper has claimed that "what people can just sit all safe in their base" well the fact is your not safe, from realistic attacks. but yes you would be safe from the unrealistic attacks. basecampers believe that spawningkilling is realistic somehow. i guess when your only skill is basecamping/spawnkilling its worries a person that their scores will now suck, without basecamping/spawnkilling.

I think the damage dynamics in FH has rendered padcamping all but obsolete, just as it makes this patch obsolete before it was even made, simply because, as Hydraslav says, the gun velocity is too high. You think I'm going to run into a base full of enemy tanks, satchel charges and zookas when I can snipe you with my 88mm?

It would however be good to stop vehicle stealing which can be a pain at times.
