If Fh was to move to RtR then EA should pay Fh for getting pepole to buy RtR... but hey thats not gonna happen. and as lightning said I think they got permission to use RtR stuff becours EA have realizd that nobody is buying it...
No, bad idea.

I sold my copy of Road to Rome a few months ago, because nobody was playing it anymore. I think it's not a good idea to have RTR required to play this mod. All new stuff RTR offers is only a few new buildings and two new tanks, that were not even used in Italy. But I think the devs could get a permission to use RTR stuff without having RTR required. Battlefield 1918 uses the RTR bayonetstab animation and has French voices from RTR, and they say they have a permission from DICE to use them. Operation Husky and Monte Cassino are the best two maps ever, it would be cool to play them again.
By making everyone require RTR, FH will lose alot of players.
I think they should take a few static objects such as the Italian houses. Don't think they would care to much about that. The vehicles are pretty crappy aswell and some of the maps were fun but could be better.
Yeah, if they're allowed - any new static objects and the voices would be good. I bought RtR (I was young and didn't know any better.. :)) and rarely played it - but at least it had bot-support I suppose. Any ideas what new static objects are in it - someone said some houses...? Actually I remember Husky being fun - but no others.
I found Monte Cassino really fun.. And we could use the bayonet animation. Alot of other mods has it. (XWW2, BF1918 and alot of others) And maybe the Sten Mk.2 too =)
The statics I remember are 3-4 houses, a big collapsed railway tunnel and maybe a tree or so.
Sound useful to me... Personally I'd also like the rocketpack from SW - not for realism's sake - just for fun - don't think it would fit into FH very well though! :) I'd also want limitless fuel in 'em. (Yeah okay I don't want the devs to really put them in - maybe I'll go and play Tribes or something instead - oh and laser-trip-mines from Duke Nukem, and a BFG... :D). // Men in White Coats take DDD away...
It really strange :
DICE said mods converting to BFV may freely use all content of bf1942 and it's expansions.....
But when the mod is still based on bf1942 as platform they may not.
I guess what DICE means is it comes down to if you want to use that expansion stuff, you have got to pay for it......either by buying the expansion, or buying BFV.
It is one of the pro's for a WWII mod to change to BFV though.......a lot of extra ( maybe low priority but still ) vehicles and objects.
And about the FH devs making better models : that is true.......but at the current speed they can add vehicles, would it be really so bad to add DICE vehicles that are not planned for modeling yet, or have a low priority ?
RTR has a Mosquito that is really welcome for the Brittish forces, it was their workhorse light bomber. Brittish in the deserts made use of the M3 Grant, wich is absent in FH deserts. The APC with the AT cannon did exist, i would not say it has high priority but when it already exists, it must be relatively easy to add. The Italian tanks were used in deserts also, but absent in FH. The PAK cannon that first appeared in bf1942 luckely did make it into FH, it isn't remodelled but does really well. Also FH still doesn't have usable rifle-attached bayonets while rifles are the FH infantry's most common weapon......i would call that a priority.
SWOWWII doesn't have much usable stuff, but some like the motorcycles are defanatly usable and missing in FH. It also has a much better Schwimmkubel than that ugly and strangely coded FH "thing" They also have a SturmTiger ready to go, without much work. I would love to see that vehicle in it's proper place : in city fighting......
