i read an announcement at the official bf2 site that they will release some new mod-tools to the community soon. does someone know if they will release the Navmesh/AI tools ?? look at battlefield2.com to read the news.
Don't know the specifics (I doubt anybody does), but the least you could have done was post it properly.
BF2 v1.12 Update We at DICE and EA are committed to on-going support for Battlefield 2. We're pleased to see that so many of you are still playing the game on a regular basis and continue to support it and the community with some great mods and movies (We're big fans of the machinimas, so keep them coming guys, and MINE, you guys rock!).
We wanted to let you know that we're already hard at work on a post 1.12 update. While we can't go into details about it, yet, rest assured that we're checking the forums, listening to our customer support teams and working hard on the features that YOU'VE asked for. As soon as we can give more concrete details, we will. Just know that we're all 100% into making Battlefield 2 the very best that it can be.
Mod Tool Update As part of our ongoing support for Battlefield 2 and the community, we're going to be releasing a new version of the Battlefield 2 Mod editor. This is a beta version of the editor and as such comes unsupported. However, we're sure you'll be happy with the additional functionality this tool provides for you eager modders.
We will be releasing the updated Mod Tool to a few individual Mod teams prior to getting it out to everyone else. This will be closely followed by a public release in a few weeks' time. We're really excited about being able to release this and look forward to seeing some great Mods out there.
The guys at DICE and EA
Thanks EA! They've been really great with their modding support.
Well, this is some nice news from EA. I hope it brings good things to the mod teams who have already familiarized themselves with the editor.
I think that it's great that EA is supporting thisgame like they are after hyping it so much. Although it doesn't seem to be on the same personal level as BF1942 appeared to be, it still support nonetheless.
I think it's funny how they utilize corporate psycological techniques like "We're doing this for YOU!" to make the consumer feel special.

But "We're doing this for YOU (because we want your money)!" sounds so cold...

Haha, true though it goes thorugh my mind "stop suking up and pretend that I'm special to you". Anyway it's nice to hear that we are atleast getting an update that's the most important thing.
This "should" be in the mapping forum but seeing we can't make FH maps ourselfs yet...
EA has finally realized it:
MODS extend a Game's lifespan. I bought BF1942 at first, just for DC (This is pre-FH).
So an anology would be this: If someone wants to do my work, and needs a pencil and a paper, I'd give him that.
If someone wants to make NEW CONTENT (virtually a new game) for THEM, all they do is provide the modding tools. Hell of a lot easier than making a new game themselves, and either way, thats more $$ in their pockets since people will buy BF2 for the mods anyway.
So long as the new Editor is nicer to use than the first one they released...
I don't think it's a new editor as much as just a few fixes and additions to the current one.
