didn't find anything about a EU standard "9768-EC" but just like useing metres / kilometres or feet / miles its just a definition -

but nowadays metres are defined very exact (its the track a light can travel inside a vacuum in 1/299.792.458 seconds) while feet isnt that exact afaik (its defined by inch and inch is defined by mm (which x100 is metres again, so its defined by metres) --> all you get is more troubles while calculateing and less exact results due the recalculation)

fact is that watt IS better since its more exact: Power = U * I

while horsepower nowadays is just a dezimal part of watt - so you have to recalculate if you want to get something you want to work with - everything you get is the better sounding "horsepower"

like you said, in germany PS is no longer accepted as official measurement of power - you're not even allowed to use PS while nameing the power on machines (only as addition to watt!)

but hell, i should be doing other things than arguing with people about PS and watt ...

Yes, yes we do, we want to see the time traveling Iraqi going... back in time! Acutal no, what we want to see is the Hurricane in video form. Even if it is a guest Iraqi stunt pilot.
