hotsyncSo are we going to see more then just 1 map with a bunch of statics and vehicle placements? It seems to be only 1 maybe 2 maps so far, a handful of vehicles, and a few statics.
Just because you have not seen other maps, it does not mean there aren't any others in progress. We are not planning on showing any maps, until they are nearly done. For this we need a lot of statics, among other things
hotsyncI'm lost with how, if at all, this mod is truely progressing..
We are showing new content on a weekly basis. There are also many things developing that you do not see, because they are either too early WIP to show, or they depend on other visual elements that are still incomplete.
FH doesn't seem to be making much headway in comparison to the other mods being created right now, and I was simply wondering what the reason was...

I don't really see how you could come to this conclusion. It might be accurate to say FH has much farther to go than most other mods, but from what I can tell, we are making rapid progress. I do not agree that POE's quality is any less, however, they can make greater use of existing BF2 content (Despite this, they have chosen to replace much of it with their own stuff anyway). Also, any modern mod is assisted by the fact that it does not have to contend with the multitude of different equipments used by all sides in WWII-- because of prevailing armor design concepts, and the rapid pace of weapons development during the war. Just the British tank force in North Africa, for example, looks almost completely different from early 41 to late 42, and requires a half dozen or so different tanks with many potential subvariants. Modern armored forces are centered around the concept of the main battle tank, and if you make one tank, you have fulfilled the minimum tank requirements for an entire army. There are stilll many other vehicles needed for a modern mod--APCs, recon, artillery, soft transport, aircraft--however, FH2 needs the same range of vehicle types--and again in many different flavors. We are not trying to make everything, but if we do not make enough, it will fail to provide the depth that is part of made FH1 a successful mod. I am sorry if you are feelling impatient, but you are simply mistaken in your impressions about FH's progress.

I would say that it should be worth the wait. Not knowing how far along they (the dev team) are doesn't seem to bother me. I think that its nice that they take the time to even let us in on the progress that they have made every week. In fact, it seems pretty asinine to post your comparative analyses in this thread, since it seems more of a place to respond specifically to those things which were in the update for this week.

albin0 Heres another idea that probably cant be done; vehicle main gun barrels dont traverse through trees and houses, can they be made'solid' ie; tank in a narrow lane cant turn turret 180 degrees. ta

this can be done, but won't be because it can't be done well. the reason being that rotationals in all refractor engines since the dawn of time cannot stop due to resistance. the force used to turn the turret is infinite. and what happens when an infinite force meets an immovable object? your tank flies in the other direction, or clips into a building and explodes. :bawl:

One of the best updates yet. I will be thrilled to see the player models. Those will be an even better treat.

I've asked the same question 2 times before...here it is again. WILL the Tobruks have armorment! They were usally armed with one MG on a 360 degree turret ring, but some had AA guns, AT guns, mortars, and even the occasional tank turret, usually from a captured french tank. Will this be seen ingame??

I'm sure the devs will ignore realism, and choose not to equip these bunkers with static weapons even though its relatively easy to do!

Well, I asked the first 2 times, but no one noticed, cuz of long conversations on other things that buried my posts. So, I waited for the thread to die down, the repost.:D Thanks for noticing that I'm a vet here, I finally have time to get back on the forums now that school is out:) And I'll take that as a yes, but only know it to be true when I see it.=P
