Omaha Beach - first AND second wave -1 reply

OK, the Omaha Beach Charlie Sector does not contain a battleship/destroyer because it portrays the "first wave" of infantry that landed on the beach: they did not have naval support. OK, i can understand that. However, the "first wave" never made it off the beach... Yet, when we the map is played, sometimes (depending on server) the allies manage to capture the second flag. But remember, the "first wave" never made it off the beach.... Therefore, now this is the "second wave" :naughty: And the "second wave" had naval support. So, do you think they should make a ship spawn after the allies capture the second flag, thus simulating the coming of the "second wave"? You might ask "why do they need a ship now that they are off the beach?". Well, i've seen numerous times when a few allies cap the flag, but it is recaptured back before enough people spawn up there, and after that the germans fortify their positions so it's even harder to get up there again. But with a ship this might change. And there will be no problem if someone beaches the ship, cause in RL the ship did come really close to the beach :D We can debate later about "which ship to spawn" and "how long to wait for it to spawn" and "should it respawn if killed", but right now i just want to know if you support the idea of implementing the "second wave"

If the ship spawns, give it a random spawn location to prevent cloud spotting by both axis and allies.

Well I´d say the ship should spawn in a fixed position and not be able to move. The waters in Charlie Sector are very limited anyhow and I doupt it would even have enough room to turn.

Anyway, I´m all for this idea !

well, i'm not too hot for the idea.

I think it would mess up the map balance than what it is already. The axis has quite a difficult time in winning due to ticket bleed and the sheer number of Allied tickets. I'm just happy because its an all infantry map (mostly...) Moses

I think it's a good idea. Most often I see the allies get slaughtered on the beach by the MG42's and this can help them keep the second flag so they get a bigger chance of winning this map

It's a neat idea, in theory, but I don't think it would help in practice. The German arty gets used a lot on that map, because, as long as there are no Germans on the beach, they don't have to worry about friendly fire. If a ship were there right from the start, it could be used effectively, but one spawning after the Allies get off the beach is just going to rack up TK's IMO, just like German arty gets TK's on silly Germans who go on the beach.

Which is one of the most annoying things ever; I once stumbled over this guy complaining I had tk'ed him on the beach, the first time it was an accident (of course he shouldn't have been there) The admin kept telling all Axis players to stay of the beach. So I told that again to him, still the same attitude: he was "the masta", and I had to shut up according to him. So next time I saw him (or any other axis player, but because every sane guy stopped doing it except him...) on the beach, I tk'ed him repeating the admin's words, even after the admin said it again a few times he still was complaining... Some people... btw: I've never, ever tk'ed someone on purpose except in situations like these, including artillary stealing idiots :(, and even than I really have to be pissed off to do it :). Gameplay, teamplay and friendship above anything. OnTopic: Sounds good, but as other people mentioned; it's a very nice infantry map, no need to unbalance it with vehicles. But as I am all for D-Day maps: why not develop another beach landing which is more vehicle oriënted !? Have fun

all the times iv played it and im always on allies on that map, but the allies lose horribly, they axis put up a great defence gota give em that, but i thin that the ship shuold spam, but cant move and if killed should have random spawns

Yeah, this is a great infantry map, one of my favourites. I always play allies on this map (tried axis a couple of times just to see how hard it was for them). I don't wish to add vehicles to this map (Gold Beach already has vehicles), but the axis here do have arty, so why not give allies some arty too, make the ship immobile, i don't think. I am not sure, but i don't think nebelwerfer will damage the ship too much. In any case, the ship should not be the allies way to victory (after all, if they capped the second flag they are already on their way without the ship). The ship should just give them some support to keep that flag. If the ship gets destroyed by axis defgun, then tough luck for allies, they should have used it better. In any case, if the defgun and nebelwerfers will start shooting the ship, even that will give allies some extra time to get up without being blown up by axis arty
