Großadmiral DönitzYour are supposed to get raped in the beginning...
Yes, but now you get raped all the time, unless the Axis team does a major f*ckup (which they mostly do on publics.) It's bad when the ball is on the other teams side to be able to suceed.
I agree, i might need a little more balance, but the allies still would need to get raped at the start of the map. Only when you breach the bunkers things should change. Ands that like it is now, i like it this way although minor tweaks (maybe adding battleship support) will ne neccary.
Yes, at the start of the map I agree, but as it is now. You get raped all the time until you get out of the bunkers and up behind them on the flag there. Face it, the reason Allied usually win Omaha is because the best players usually go Allied since it's more fun playing there. Defending as axis is just a turkey shoot, with no challenge whatsoever. Although I must say, when the fighting get's off the beach the map is really wonderful. The terrain is near to perfect for infantry fighting. I'd just like it to happen more often.
Hmm. I still like pierce's omaha as well as the new Charlie sector. They're similar (dur, same beach) but I feel like they play different. On pierce's once the allies get the bunker flag they usually win shortly after. On Charlie a lot of action can still take place after the bunker flag is capped by the allies. I'm not sure if they'll be as different in the next version since it seems like the changes that I heard pierce was making (better arty positioning, narrower beach, three lc's) are already in Charlie. That could change my opinion but right now I like them both. Oh and Dog and Green weren't seperate beaches. Dog Green was portion of Dog sector as well as Dog Red and Dog White. Charlie Sector bordered Dog Green.
Omaha Charlie Sector is a great map! But I don't think we need more than one Omaha map. So remove the current "default" one and replace it with Charlie (then renamed to just Omaha Beach).
Though Charlie could be improved too. First, forced team ratios giving the Allies at least 2:1 advantage. Second, make the map utilize the "push" mode, ie. the flags are only cappable in the order they're in - no more Allied flanking to the rear flags before getting even the first one. Additionally you could also remove the northernmost German flag, it's maybe too far inland as it is an invasion map afterall. But maybe that's just me.
2:1 is a server setting they cant do anything about it ...
Omaha can be quite easily won on allies by just a few little coordinated players. On allies people always try the rightmost bunker or the passage on the far left, but hardly ever the middlebunker; so do the axis. Riflenade the MG42's from behind the shingle, eliminate the resistance, if there is any, which isn't very likely and sneak past their defenses to the last flag. Works really well in public games.
If you guys like beachmaps so much, you should know that D-Day wasn't the only amphibious landing in World war 2. Actually, I could name quite a few: - Operation torch (allied landings in North Africa). - Sicily (allied landings in sicily). - Salerno beachhead (allied landings on the italian mainland). - Operation overlord (yeah, ok, you already covered that one). - Operation Dragoon (allied landings in southern france). And that doesn't even include the many beach landings in the pacific, like Iwo jima, Tarawa, Okinawa and many many others.

Exactly why the Allies should be forced to cap the flags in order. Allies getting the last flag really ruins the map - they should be storming the beach until they succeed!
The top priority beach maps:
- Juno (give the Canucks some lurvin) - Anziooooooooo
Low(er) priority beach maps:
- Sword Beach - Salerno

Ahh, capping flags in different order! Why didn't I think of that before? I must try that next time I play... :silly:
