Count Nosferatu Moreover APCs are tank meat...

More reason to just use them as transports with bullet protection for those onboard, and not as fighting vehicles as you stated earlier on. If they are in a map without tanks then they can be used as support vehicles supressing the enemy with the mg. Experience told you too that if you use the apc as an assault vehicle, the mg gunner is easily sniped or machinegunned out, or the apc blown up by infantry AT weapons......so it isn't such a good fighting vehicle in general. Sometimes it can be succesfull as such though, but that is exception, not a rule.

Yes but unlike real life we have flags to capture and APCs are best used for that.

IRL armoured personell carriers were used by the germans to give infantry the ability to keep up with the tanks and were travelling right behind them. If the the terrain first had to be cleared before tanks could move on, infantry dismounted and cleared out the terrain.......that is one of the reasons real AT infantry weapons were never that succesfull, and most tank kills were made by longer range weapons, such as (AT) field guns, artillery tank destroyers and other tanks.

In FH that should be the same, but in public servers most of the players fight on their own. That is why a FH APC is vulnerable to tanks, it doesn't enjoy the protection of being behind a group of tanks as it would be IRL.

Note that the devs equipped most tanks with engine deck seats, and they must have done that with a purpose in mind. In theory tanks in FH would not have to fight without infantry protection, and infantry can keep up with tanks without apc by travelling on the tanks and dismount if needed. The apc has an advantage : it protects it's passengers against bullits opposed to those travelling on a tanks engine deck.

Erm no more reason not to use them at all [to get to the lowest reaches of the map that is]

You can have fun in your APC while I plug you a new hole with a 75mm+/riflegrenade/20mm shell/grenade. The fact remains [which you are diverging from] APCs are tank meat... if you use them as taxis you are dead. Which means that the whole concept of running most of the map and probably dying as a result, just to get a grey tank is stupid [another point completely unaddressed yet a significant flaw in the whole argument. I would rather walk in FH than use an APC. BTW in BFV vehicles do get blown yup after an idle period. The point is: If you want tanks locked out, do some or all of the above. - Make tank destruction shorter [same spans as in vanilla]

- Follow some of the earlier suggestions for tank combat [you can't have it halfway and besides locking out of tanks will make it much easier to implement these] - ie when a shell hits the crew takes punishment (injures driver), damage is mostly unknown (damage bar is taken away), noise is terrifying (up the clanking sound when a shell hits).

- Make it so that tank entry is ONLY top down [like in a destroyer where you can ONLY enter from the room, surely tanks can be made so that you can ONLY enter through the hatches...]... so that noobs can't go in. That combined with a crewman/engineer class would be perfect. If possible you can give the crewman/engineer class a destructible ladder [like the old DC sandbags which will go after use/a minute (like the portable MGs/Mortars)].

Beast of WarIf you are kicked from a server taxiing players with transport vehicles, i'd suggest that is a really strange admin. ( what i really think would be insulting )

LOL, sounds like the WOLF server (BTW, do they have a BF:V server). I was playing FH, took a jeep and taxied my passenger to the plane, then continued going into the battle in my jeep. Moments later i am kicked from server. Hmm... kicked for showing teamwork and giving a teammate a lift?

Beast of War, if that's the kind of gameplay you want, you should try World War II Online. I've been a subscriber for two years now...trust me, it's come light years since it's god-awful release back in the day.

Hmm I'm reluctant to pay a subscription unless its worth it. And judging by the smacktards online that I have seen it has to be pretty damn good to be worth it
