I hear a lot of rumbling when it comes to this map. Judging by the public servers (mostly hslan though) many folks seem to having trouble with enjoying it and can't wait for the next map in rotation.
What is the general opinion about this map in this forum?
I think it's a great map, with an amazing atmosphere (Night raid and flare guns ffs!)

I think it's quite funny. Complaints I read on hslan are usually
- American ("OMFG ITS TOO DRAK AND WTF TEHRE AR NO AMERICANS LOL??")
- notorious whiners - seriously, we all that play on a server regularly know these guys, one or two have brought it over from FH1 ("HOPEFULLY IT'S OVER SOON..")
- people with bad monitors or unfitting screen settings ("WTH I DONT SEE ANYTHING!!11") - disappointed tank drivers, that lack opportunity the camp spawns like in tobruk ("OMG TIHS MAP SUXX").
That's the stuff, and though I think a few things could have been made better/in another way, actually the map is really cool and the night setting makes it something special.
The only thing i hate about it is that the germans always wants to attack, so they camp the roads and valleys. Meanwhile some clever British go round and cap a flag were no germans can be seen. Instead of putting up defenses. I am always the only one who keeps an eye on the airfield flag.
The objective version is nice, but same problem All in all the problems lay more with the way people play this map.
On a side note: were is the map with the gold bar objective??
My dislike has nothing to do with the map. In the daytime can't see shit because the sun shines to my screen :) Though I think this map would be much more fun with an objective. To blow up something...

first of all it is an Objective map (32 mode)
Second of all.. close the damn blinds!
Ive made many nightmaps in the past, and I dont understand people that whine because of darkness... let's reason around this for a while:
-you play a historical tactical shooter game for what reason? To just 'spray n pray' and frAg as many enemies as possible, or because you want to engage in realism-inspired combat based on true events from WW2?
-Night combat simply is a feature no gamedeveloper with any sort of pride or professionalism could stay away from, its a challenge to produce it and to leave it out because - its dark? - is simply nothing that this dev-team wll ever do
-Its dark, yes, you can't play like you do in daytime... in the very same sense that in RL when you walk through that forest or over that piece of land in your neighbourhood you can almost run over in daytime, you need to be careful at night so you dont trip over something or put your feet on something hard or edgy... you adjust. In the same way, adjust your gamestyle.
-Your enemy has equal problem seeing you, as you have seeing him, so the defect is equalized, and cancelled out.
-Night time is about ambience, stealth and variation of the game, this is why its being produced, and will never leave the game.
-Servers that remove Hyacinth from rotation are literary killing the mod ofcourse we're happy they run FH2 at all, but if you immediately discard [COLOR=Red]challenging [COLOR=Black]maps based on players whine then you are preparing them for a future where [COLOR=Red]they decide the map designs[COLOR=Black], something that can not happen..... They need to learn the maps, and learn to be flexible, in order to fully experience this mod and the maps.
-Remember that as soon as you start leaving maps out, you are making allready complicated or challenging maps even harder to learn for people... Alam Halfa is the same, it must be p l a y e d s o p e o p l e l e a r n i t. Not removed from rotation because "omfg I dunno whAT TO DO"-players.
-Keep Hyacinth on A L L S E R V E R S even if you get occasinal drop-outs from players, look at it like this: players that leave a server for the reason of a map, are not there to enjoy this mod, they wanna have a quick frag-fest and round up kills, not be apart of a Forgotten Hope game. There is the difference, do you wanna run a frag-server (FRAG-HERE 24/7 ONLY 137 SKILLED)-type of community, sure, that's up to you, but then don't count on the players that you attract on having any kind of knowledge about either mapdesign or even what conflict or scenario the map is based on, also those players will leave your community in an instant whenever a new shooter or patch for WoW arise or whatever...
-FH2 is about pushing the Battlefield concept to its limits and evolve it around historical events set in a realism-inspired environment, night is apart of that reality.
-Normandy is coming up, lots af action happened the first night (st mere elise, pegasus etc)... Would you rather the dev's remove that historically vital fact and make it daymaps, so you can "frag better" ?... think about that...

I love it when people whine and bitch about not having night maps, but once you have night maps, they whine and bitch that they are too dark. Hyacinth is a great infantry map and with its objective mode, its a very fun change of pace from all those typical conquest fights. Not a surprise that I enjoy the objective mode more than the conquest mode in this map.
Good post, Natty.
Gotta say Op.Hyacinth was an amazing battle in the F|H tournament. The Allies coming from all damn directions when they got airfield. Had a blast defending Station with my teammates.
I find that map great. Even better than Sidi Rezegh which sometimes is boring IMO.

Oh yeah this is boring, people spamming mines under the bridge and waiting with MG34 and At rifles on the railroad... they always get bypass after a while, and you remain alone to defend the airfield... Maybe this map should need an antibasecamp line forbidding the Germans to get out the town or the airfield area.
