Well I was wondering which system people would prefer for Tank Damage, so I will explain both Hit Points. Hitpoints is the current FH system where the tank is one big damage area, Frontal side armour its all one. Locational Hitpoints Is where the tank is split into different area, each area has a certain ammount of armour, however say you get hit on the left side of your tank & one more hit will kill your tank you can rest that side against a wall, The rest of your tank will still have full armour.

I'm gonna say no.... I've give tanks hell as it is. But then again....... knocking the treads off tanks would be fun just the piss the driver off.

I vote for Locational Hitpoints! More realistic = More fun!

Locational sounds good to me, as I have had so many situations when Im basicly all alone in my tank, defending a line from advancing enemies and I am doing my very best to hold them off as long as I can. Usually I have online game-mates in the same game whom I can then yell out to reinforce me either with ammo and repairs or with a tank or two. This Locational Hitpoints feature would give the type of defenders like myself a bit more ground to hold on as I could just change positions and gain a second or two more for my team.

This sounds like a good implementation. Blowing off the tracks of a Panzer / tank would seem realistic. However when being fired upon from the side lets say with a Panzer 4 H on a Sherman, the Sherman would explode.

The tanks in Forgotten Hope as it is now is too much overpowered. I once had to fire 3 shells with the Konigstiger upon a sherman advancing 50m infront of me. Considering the Konigstiger and for that sake the Tiger had the 88mm canon it for me seemed totally and utterly rediculous.

Sure you hit it...? I've never seen a Tiger/KT which have used 3 shots to take out one Sherman...

Locational Hitpoints sounds good, but AFAIK its not possible in the BF42 engine...and I doubt its doable in the BF2 engine too.

That was most likely because of lag or hrmm...you missing it. There is no way a sherman in FH could survive three hits from a Konigstiger no matter where you hit it. As for tanks being overpowered I'll have to disagree. If anything they are underpowered. When you see a tank on the battlefield you should be terrified and run for cover. As it is now you either charge it with faust/satchel/etc or if you aren't equipped with any of those weapons you charge it any way and respawn with one of those weapons.

Must have been lag because even I cant blow up such a situation when Im in a heavy german tank against a pitiful Sherman. ;)

Well, in real life you also wouldnt magically respawn at the nearest flag ;)

But I like the idea of the localized hitpoints. But I think it would require some hard coding work.
