Good old times... all you needed was some 500kt of extended memory. I actually don't know if "my" (ours) 286 had a video card... I guess every pc has one, it was prolly integrated.

Haven't played BF2 for a while, but with all settings high (except AA) I could play PoE2 and EoD2 without problems, smoke grenades were something else, they could drop my fps from around 80 to 15. Intel dual-core EE6400, 2GHz DDR, Radeon X1950 Pro is my rig.

Okay, my PC specs are: Geforce 7600 with 512MB video RAM 1GB RAM 2.8 HT processor

Is that good enough to run all features of FH2 decently... Cuz I sure would love to play in 'close-to' full graphics quality some day. What aspect of these do I need to improve considering I can only squeeze out like 90bucks cash-wise?

I play BF2 vannila on 1280 x 1024 with 2x aa settings high. Dynamic light and shadow off. Sounds settings r medium, cos Dice hasn't gotten it right since BF1942 with the sounds settings. Its usually your sounds settings that make a diffence in BF games. I don't change my settings for PoE2, EOD2, DCON or PR. PC is a pIV 3,4 Ghz, 1,5 GB PC3200 Ram, Ati X800XT, Creative Audigy 2 @Polska With your configuration you shouldn't have to change the settings with any mod.

I play BF2 @ 1280 x 1024, AA x2, settings high, Dynamic light and shadow off. Sounds settings medium/hardware. Since BF1942 its the sounds settings that makes a whole lot of difference on the game peformance. Sadly I have found that this hasn't changed for BF2. I play all BF2 mod (EOD,DCON,PR and PoE) with the same settings. @Polska With your configuration you shouldn't have to change any settings when playing a mod.

I agree, I don't remember any noticable performance drop comparing vanilla and mods.

When I bought my comp last december, Intel C2D was the way to go. Now AMD has dropped its prices, and with the same price you can get a AMD with more Hzs, or Intel with a larger (4MB) cache.

If somebody considers upgrading, with recent new technology in all aspects you'd probably be safe with upgrading at least CPU (and mobo). The least that one could do is get more RAM, but I don't know if e.g 1GB -> 2GB would be such a improvement, whereas 1GB DDR -> 2GB DDR2 would (also requires a new mobo). Graphics card... I don't think upgrading just that would give much help.

Real-BadSeed;3696274My first rig was a 12mhz(16mhz on turbo),IBM 286, 1mb ram, 1mb vga vid card. My first game was "Their finest hour-The battle of Britain", an old ww2 flight sim, and a good one i might add. The sequel was excellent aswell, "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe". And of coarse there was "Empires Deluxe" an great RTS multiplayer. As simple as those games were back then, they still were a blast. :D OT: I run FH2 at about 50-75 fps depending on the map, medium settings.

Young punks. Try a TI-99/4A with 48K (yes K) memory and typing your games in by hand to be saved on a cassette recorder or the early 360k 5-1/4" floppies.... Now where is my Geritol and magnifying glass at.... Currently rocking AMD-64 3500++, 2 gig RAM plus an adequate PCIX 6800GTw/ 256 megaroons.

You win for most decrepit machine. My first flight sim was either Red Baron or 1942-Pacific Air War. Dear Lord, the hours I wasted....
