If you recieve a message telling you that you do not have the correct version of BF installed, when installing FH 0.7 or the FH Fanmappack, yet you know you have the correct version installed (because you just copied it from another PC, or reinstalled windows), try this:
It is a registry entry (Created by JaMan) that will make your PC think you have it installed correctly. You can either just download it and execute it, but then every installer will think you installed BF to JaMan's directory. To avoid this, open the file with wordpad (right click on it, "open with") and look for "Gamedir".
There you will see JaMan's gamedir, just replace it with yours (For example "C:\Programs\EA Games\Battlefield 1942"), save it and execute it. Now you have the correct registry entry and the installers no longer complain.
Thx to JaMan again for his great skills with reg files!
Enjoy the FH experience!
Thanks but how do i edit it into my reg? I just downloaded regeditor help:uhm:
Run>regedit>CLick>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Ea GAmes, etc.
Arrrg still not working, im very noob at this.
You don't need to edit your registry at all, just download the file, say onto your desktop. Then you open (that file) with wordpad (do NOT make wordpad the standard program to open it. It's just a textdokument basicly, but the ending is .reg, so windows detects it as a reg modifier, and if you had set wordpad as the standard, it would not work) Edit the Gamedir to represent your Battlefields Direction on your computer. Just click on "Save".
Now execute the file with double click, it will ask you if you really want to add the registry entry. Press the "Yes" or whatever button is confirming and after a second you will recieve a "Entry successfully added" ;)
