You know what's fun in Prokhorovka? Take the Stuka armed with 1000kg bomb, climb on top of the flying TB3 and let em have it. That's really easy, as it is such a big target, and usually even pretty well manned. They will never know what hit em :)

Now I want to see a pilot who would attempt to do so in RL:deal: [but nice idea anyways]

Germans developed a tactic of fitting a bomb (250kg?) with a timed fuze and dropping it into a B-17 formation. It is covered very well in Hienz Knoke's "I flew for the Fuher" (Cant do the dots over the U with US keyboards).

Yes, this was another one of the methods used to down Lancecasters, B17s, and B24s. They were 50-100kg bomblets fitted to a Bf-110 or Uhu, and dropped over a bomber. Another method was firing an 81mm mortar from the gunners seat of the Bf110 into the bomber. Neither of these attacks were popular or successful. The bomb method exposed high explosives to fire from 3 (the 2 in the turret, and the one radio gunner in the B17G) M2 guns. KABOOM! Bye bye fighter. The mortar method was suicide, you had to fly VERY slow, and VERY close to the ball gunner, who was pissed about being down there anyways. Let me put it this way, the glass was not bulletproof...

both methods were simply to difficult to use. the r4m air-to-air rocket was much more popular, despite its short range and small warhead.
