OK here goes...

Is the title of the map "Desert Rose" in FH 0.7 a reference to the U2 song "In God's Country"?

I think its a reference to the song "A horse with no name" by America. Because he is in the desert and the horse is the only pretty thing around. So the horse is like a rose in the desert. Also desert rose map has alot of tanks and you ride a horse kinda like you ride a tank...except you feed the horse hay and water instead of gasoline, and you don't climb inside of the horse to ride it. But you sit on a horse much like you would sit in a seat in a tank...except you don't straddle the tank seat. Also, In the past horses were used for war, as a tank was and is used today. I also think it refers to this song because a rose has thorns which can poke you and cause pain...a horse can kick or bite you which will also cause pain. Also, in the song he says "in the desert you can't remember your name"...in this case the singer obviously means the name of the map...how many of you would tell the server admin.." I wanna play that map with the railroad tracks running down the middle and the town up on top of the steep hill." One final note that relates this song to the map is that the map had planes and alot of AA guns. When these planes are destroyed they fall to the ground, like a horse would if it fell off of the cliff with the town on top of it on the desert rose map. This explanation should clear up any doubts about the true meaning of the map name.

Talking about Desert Rose.. was it an actual battle? I can't find any info about it, so I guess it's fictional?

It is the Alpenfesting of North Africa. It never happened.

look at flag names. I dont think its a fictional battle. Like I said, its located in Morroco or Algeria.

maybe its a Operation Torch Map with Brits.
