ok, first off let me say I'm a big FPS/strat/etc. gamer that's played a lot of games and mods, i'm not a random noob
I played FH1 for a few months and had fun with that immensely which led me to follow FH2's development for some time
I recently found out FH2 was released (whoops!) so of course, albeit late, I jumped into the action
Most maps turn into 10vs10 or 15vs15 which turns into a tank camp, where you will get K:D records resembling 5-23, or 3-28.
which is not fun.
And I know, I know some people will say "USE THE ANTI-TANK GUNS". I shot a Crusader tank in the rear with the best Pak gun on this desert map (Not the 88 since it was destroyed and everytime I would try to repair it they'd camp it again) and it just simply turned around and blew me up.
I actually went the entire game 0-23, eventually me and my friend got a jeep, went to their main base, my friend shot them all and we both mined all the tanks, so my one kill that round was a crusader tank mine camp.
Since Germany only had like 1-2 tanks to use against about 4, I could never get in a tank, so I spent most of my time trying to mine the enemy tanks and repair the one german tank on the field.
All in all, the only fun i've had on this mod was the Crete map and a desert map that has a large town in it (4 flags). This mod turns into a tank spawn camp fest and it's, well, simply not fun. More urban maps are needed for my style of player that likes to do infantry fights, not just wait in the back for a tank over and over. There's really no place for the infantry in this mod as it stands on a majority of maps right now.
And that's why I am "meh" about this mod right now.
Have you tried the 16 players maps? They're all infantry based :P But I know your pain, being an infantry user myself. Best thing to do is just try and play smart and go ladung those mofos ;P
As the rule goes in the desert. Kepp your head down and kill that nasty camper by flanking him and shoving a big satchel in his exhaust. ^^
keep playing, the learning curve is a bit steep and it takes time to know all the stuff and how to use it wisely. Pick your fights if you see a tank and have no AT equipment inform your team about the tank position (best spot it with binoculars ) and run for your life.
Yep :P If you cant destroy it, then don't! And stay alive :P Leave the tank killin' to those in the tanks, or follow around an at rifle until he dies and take his kit lol

Good old military tradition. ^^
Can't believe you actually have 0-23 scores O.o i always end up with an even score .. just don't leave your cover unless you have to. if you feel the server is full of tank-campers, just leave and get another one.. also, i'm only playing on servers that have 64 player maps running, enough people to shoot really :s

Heh.. I have quite the opposite experience.. either I'm doing very good or very bad, but pretty rarely I have very even kdr / scores. I think the main reason might simply be between being focused and not so focused. In vanilla, I can get decent scores even when I'm not so focused and while just wandering around, but FH2 is so unforgiving. I think that's why people either love or hate it.
The whole thing in getting kills is to know where the enemy is. You'll get that after a while from map observation or spots. Don't expect to be uber playaH or smth like that just after you enter the game. You said you're new to the 2nd version of FH so remember you're left behind pretty much.
I feel your pain, as last nights games on Wolf seemed to be all about the tank campers. They would leave one flag and not take it and then sit back and spawn kill to no end. At one time last night on Mersa Matruh I counted 6 German tanks camping the lone flag left. I actually did not spawn for about 5 min. because of it. Once a stray squad was able to get another flag I spawned there, got on a 6 pounder and went on a tank killing spree. I got 8 tanks in a row before one got me. lol
Flag camping (camping the last flag and not taking it) is such a BF2 vanilla noob tactic and it's sad to see all the stat/score whores that use it even in FH2. However, most rounds are not like this and most the time it seems to be a fairly good game play that is seen.
Keep trying. Try tanking. Learn the fine art of Mines. Don't even waist your time on the anti tank guns, as they only work on small vehicles.
