On the other hand, can FryaDuck attest to what caliber round he was shot with? And at what range? And did the round go clean through his arm, stay in the arm, or what? And was the arm shielding the body at the moment? There's a lot of information missing and a lot of information that we can't accurately model in the game. Penetration simply isn't modeled in this game and until it is, I think you have to make the arms kills as well.

Part of the problem is that we try to shoehorn as much realism into the engine as is possible, but there's a limit to how much you can fit in. The engine doesn't model penetration. Period. Thus, certain scenarios will never play out and the arms will always count as a hit, but not a kill.

Consider the following scenario. Pvt. Smith is standing at 300m range from an entrenched enemy. As Pvt. Smith turns perpendicular to his enemy, the enemy fires. The round, an 8mm FMJ fired from a K98, strikes Pvt. Smith in his right bicep, passes through the muscle, and strikes him in the armpit, severing his axillary artery. Pvt. Smith, unable to be assisted by his platoon medic in time, dies of blood loss.

Or, we could have Pvt. Smith facing his enemy with his hands extended in front of him. The enemy fires, and the round tears through Pvt. Smith's right hand, passing on to his chest, where it strikes a rib, breaks it, and shatters, as fragments of bone and bullet penetrate his right lung. Pvt. Smith dies as a result of the punctured lung.

Until we can model scenarios like that, I say rifles are 1S1K no matter where you hit. Once we can take into account things like the type of round, the caliber of the round, range, etc. and model accurate penetration of the entire model, it's probably better to err on the side of the rifle being able to kill.

i would like to see one shot one kills with ALL rifles including sniper rifles if you can actually hit someone with a sniper rifle then you should get the kill with one shot and it does get abit tedious if your a rifle assault and your going up against an smg carrier, i shoot him with a rifle (it hits) but by the time i try to reload another round hes already running over and im dead :uhoh:

Rifles should be one shot kill weapons anywhere above the knee, when I was in the Army (British) I saw what a 7.62mm SLR round would do, a hit in the arm or leg would, 85% of the time, remove the limb from the hit point down.

FryaDuck seems to have been the only person here unfortunate enough to have been actually shot in the arm. With that in mind perhaps we should listen to what he has to say rather then simply ignoring his post.

Anyway, hopefully he has made a full recovery,

The question is shot with what? I seriously doubt he got hit with a high powered rifle round and was still able to operate said limb. Maybe if it was a flesh wound.
