Imho, the problem lies in the Engineer himself. The Engineer is still the main Driver class on most maps but should not be. Also I want Mines to return. So please make the Engineer a Pioneer instead and make the Driver the only class capable of repairing. That would also make the Engineer less popular, since tank whores would use the Driver instead of the Engineer and that would result in less Satchels being used.

have you even played 0.65 ??

@Rathole - You seem to be forgetting how lame it was to allow expacs to be spread around a flag or whatever to defend it from the enemy. No one is sad to see this stupidity removed.

Yes I have and yes I know there is a Driver class on some Maps. But mostly, if people have the choice, they´ll pick the Engineer over the Driver because he can repair aswell. The Driver should be selectable on almost every map and replace the useless Officer class. And the Pioneer should also replace the Engineer as to make him less flexible...

I like satchells, it's suicide to plant one on a tank normally unless that tank has no infantry support.

Well, if you land one on a tank you deserve a kill. Tanks in WWII had amazingly thin top armour. And since we can't blow a track or a hatch on a tank and assault it...second best thing. The timed charges require more skill than sitting with a plunger, I like them.

Well it seems a shame that you dont agree. Cause the changes would make the game more realistic and increase tactics a little more. I wish there was a way of limiting certains classes. what ever happend to an SDK?

I yet have to make my first satchel kill, i find myself carrying fausts and zook's around alot more now, wich i think is a good thing. before it was only engineer kit for me :)

Satchels are okay and hard to use, they should be. Can we give the russians molotovs btw? they also work against tanks :D

I could be wrong..?

useless..? erm.. who do you want to call for artillery on maps without tanks? also the officer is just plain cool...

No, I am not forgetting at all and that was the real meaning of the post title. Not the obvious one as someone pointed out. I am not sad to be rid of ex-packs in large numbers, I am just of the opinion that satchel charges are effectively the same thing. We have done away with ex-pack whores and replaced them with satchel charge whores. I would like to see them as pick-up kits in limited numbers, not as a spawnable kit. If you want to kill tanks, use an AT weapon. I don't care if someone can find an obscure reference to a Finnish guy blowing up a tank with a satchel charge. This was not the norm in WWII. I have read many, many books about WWII combat and can't recall a single anecdote about using a satchel charge to destroy a tank. Bazookas, Fausts...yes. Just because someone could possibly kill a tank with a satchel charge does not mean it did happen with any frequency. Also, the amount of satchel charges on a battlefied was very limited. Therefore, to remain consistent with the goal of realism, it should not be widely available in a spawnable kit.
