I've always been under the impression that semi-automatic means that the rate of fire is as fast as the rate at which you can pull the trigger. Or incase you can pull the trigger faster than the mechanism of the gun, the gunmechanism is the limiting factor. In Forgotten Hope however the rate of fire of every semi-automatic weapon is different and none of these weapons fire as fast as you can click your mousebutton. Now I wondered if there was a significant difference between the rate of mouseclicking and the rate of triggerpulling, so I changed the Forgotten Hope files a bit, so that the rate of fire was as fast as I could click my mousebutton. Now I noticed that this was quite fast, and on some weapons (like the G43) I could fire faster than the gun mechanism (maybe this is due to a too slow animation).
Now in my opinion, it would serve Forgotten Hope well, in terms of both realism and gameplay to have the rate of fire of all semi-automatic weapons increased. (In terms of coding, for any devs reading this, I was thinking along the lines of: Pistols 6.5, Rifles 5.5 and Carbines 8.) Now the purpose of this thread is not as much as a suggestion for the devs, but more as an indication of what other people think about this subject, so please, vote.
I love the semi-autos in BF:V, because you can get an ROF close to that of an assault rifle. The Type 56 and RPG-2/7V is my favourite kit, because of this.
I'm all for it, especially the carbines seem to fire way to slow.
This has been brought up so many times but nothing is ever done about it.
Pistols suck because you can't fire fast enough, I mean you should be able to fire off all 7 rounds of a colt1911 in under 4 seconds not in around 8.
Semi auto rifles also need there rof increased, a lot, theres nothing worse than having a carbine which shoots slower than a no4 bolt action rifle.
Semi auto rifles like the garand and g43 had slower rof (slower then you could crank the trigger) because theyr cycling full sized rifle cartridges. Currenty theyr rate of fire is pretty accurate.
Last internal i played the m1carbine had its rof increased insanley so it fires as fast as you pull the trigger. We're going to have to decrease the damage quite a bit though, because its like an stg44 now :p I'll get dime to see if he can do the same to pistols as well. I like eods pistols which fire insanely fast, but you wont hit jack all, so it takes lots on control to actually time your shots well enough to hit things.

I hear you, but i liked the boobytrap kit better ^^ The cool thing is even tho the type56 was semi-auto you can fire as fast as you can click, meaning you are equal to some-one carrying a AK or M16. For FH i'd like to see pistols and other apropriate ROF's put in.
I think their rate of fire is slow on Fh because of the firing animation. They'd just have to simplify them like on XWW2 to make them fire faster. <333 I'l like to see a No. 2 fire as fast as the german's Walther P38. :)
What's the trigger pull like on one of those old SA rifles? I only ask because I can click a mouse a fair bit faster than any of the SA hunting rifles I've fired lately, (except for maybe my 15-round .22, which is fun to shoot skeet with :D )and they were all modern designs and weren't subjected to combat conditions. Any collectors out there that can comment?
someone grab a semiauto weapon......now tell me if you can pull the trigger as fast as you can click a mouse...........nuff said
The only gun I have a problem with the ROF is the M1 carbine. The pistols could use some upping, but like McGibs said, it should effect the accuracy (the 1911 is strong enough that the ROF hardly matters).
