I've seen the Camo Before. I've also seen many amazing ships, including Canadian ones painted with Dazzle. Though they look rediculous up close they're practically impossible to see at sea. The reason they only did it with the tanks in the desert was because the mirage really blended in well with them. It's Dazzle + Mirage camoflauge.

As far as i know it does not really make the target harder to see but more like harder to see what the target really looks like. I have seen pictures of schips with dazzle camo and altough you could see that there was something there it was very hard to see the ship as a whole

Anlushac11@D-Fens: Yes a few Churchills were in time for Supercharge. In fact that was their first time to see combat. And as far as I can remember the paint job is correct as well.

No, Supercharge was the first time they were used successfully.

The Dieppe raid was there the Churchill first saw action, all 28 were disabled or knocked out. The Germans recovered the tanks but after study they scrapped them as they though they were a pre-war design and consequently crap.

Off topic, but I always thought the Dieppe raid was just that, a raid. Why did they land tanks? Surely they'd just have to abandon them when they withdrew?

from what I understand, the Dieppe raid was to trial run a full fledged beach attack, so they'd need tanks to be part of it, but really the only thing they ended up learning was how NOT to stage a beach attack, RIP you poor Canucks

They learned important stuff about logistics, what works and what not. They learned to place decoys and stuff, without this raid Overlord may have been less sucessfull, which would have meant more than a few thousand death.

And to try and show the Soviets they were actually doing something to make a second front(other than North Africa).
