Neighbor KidI think that all the variets should be placed in to give more detail. that flat front of the sherman tank is getting old . i think that the M4A1 with its rounder hull should be in early maps or be rarein late maps and put each variet with its army as said before by Smooth BM. i mean com on the regular sherman inthe game(m4a3) is getting old time for new desigh and look.

Not only was the M4A1 cast hull used to til the end of the war, There was a field made Jumbo version. It had a thick flat plate welded on at the bottom and had two steel brackets at top.

The one in the photo does not have the armor panels welded to teh turret front and front side of turret, I'll look for a pic of that.

Anlushac11The first Shermans used in combat were the M4A1's with the cast hull at 2nd El Alamein.

The M4A1 was still in use at end of war and some versions recieved the 76mm gun, wet stowage, and HVSS suspension.

As for box on back of the turret, which model are you referring to?

The Sherman Firefly had a armored radio box welded to the back of the turret and then had a steel counterweight welded on the back of that tot offset teh barrel length of the long 17lbr gun.

The Sherman Jumbo had the extension of the back, often called the duckbill turret, because the the T23 turret was designed with the counterweight integral to the turret construction to balance the long barrel 76mm gun.

There was quite a few M4A1(76)w's, even more than M4A3 Easy 8's. They probably were also a tough nut to crack with the 75mm L/48 given the 112mm of effective frontal hull armor.

For in game, if there's only going to be 1 model of the the 75mm Sherman, then I don't think it would make sense for it to be an M4A1. Most other hulls looked pretty similar. If there's going to be multiple models, then by all means there should be the A1. Perhaps on later maps there could also be a M4A3(75)w for the US Army.

Unless I'm having nightmares from regular BF1942, I'm seeing FH's Sherman 75's with the same box on the back of the turret as Fireflies do.

Actually, Smooth, I think they changed the turret model, at least on some of the A3s. I'm pretty sure the British north african version has no turret box.
