I thought we were talking about sidewalks, not roads. The type of road doesn't matter. Both dirt or pavement roads had/have sidewalks if we're talking about streets, not roads between villages/cities.

Dirtroads are still overused, most of the dutch towns had cobblestone, "klinkers" (looks likes bricks, kinda like cobblestone but less anoying to driver over) or concrete/pavement roads (highways or main roads). Same did go for many other westn europe towns and citues, you would find at the very least cobblestone roads if not somethign better. True perhaps some remote villeges might have had dirt roads but come on, it was 1940, not the middle ages or something :D. And since most towns in BF/FH maps take place in/around major cities or towns they should have cobblestones at the very least. Sidewalks are missing a lot aswell. IMO most maps have 1900-1940 buildings with a infrastructure (roads, sidewalks etc) from around 1700-1800... :uhm:

Even Roman streets were paved, don't assume that all of Europe until the last few years was driving on dirt and stones. I have not been able to put my finger on it, but NONE of the cities and towns in any BF mod look real or lived in. Everything is sterile, plain and looks like a Hollywood backlot. There are no stores or restraunts, inns or hotels, just plain buildings all with beds and a stove. Nothing has a name on the front of the building, there is no trash in the street. Hell there should be dead horses and people, blood stains, dirt mud, clothes etc. Towns (not all of them) should look ransacked, with stuff everywhere. How about a piano in the middle of the street? Seen lots of pictures of those type of scenes. I have never even seen street signs, traffic lights or power lines. How about some fruit or newspaper stands? HOW ABOUT CARS?! Civilian cars? Why does every place look like I'm the first human to ever visit there? I don't know if it's light mapping, lack of everyday item statics, art, posters, maybe actual glass in the windows, who knows, but every town, village and house in BF looks like total shit.

I was eventually going to get to topics/items within cities like you mentioned malone1313 in the course of this thread but you summed it up pretty good, cept I wouldn't say all existing towns look like !@#$.

What about bike lanes, for the Stingray in Lobo's upcoming (and eagerly anticipated by yours truly) Battlefield 1936 mod? SHARE THE ROAD! *Imagines a biker madly peddling away from a KT rolling down the road.*
