So you’re now ready to play FH

Last time we had a major release (0.6) for the first week the servers were full of people, who for the lack of a better word were hapless newbs! The experience wasn’t as enjoyable because people were wondering, “where is my parachute?” “Where did the tank crosshairs go?” “Why are these grenades not killing a Tiger tank?”.

Not only were people unsure where some of their options went, but they were also unsure of how to do other things that effected many players. I’m sure that all of us have been stuck in a Ju-52 cartwheeling towards the unforgiving Crete soil, or in a tank that was flung against a tree because the APC in front of us deployed that Tripod MG-34. Also I’m sure that you’ve seen a US or German truck full of people swearing at the driver because he doesn’t know where he is going on this new map.

Onto my point!

Come Friday, we will all be newbs, there will be new vehicles we’ve never used, maps we’ve never played, and new options that we’ve never heard of. How can we keep from embarrassing ourselves online and making other people’s online experience less fun? Simple, by following these simple suggestions.

1. Read the Manual.

It might not be the latest Tom Clancy, but there are a lot of interesting tidbits of information and hints that will allow you to better play the game. A lot of new features are listed multiple times, and changes are pointed out so that you won’t have to repeat the “how do I dive in the sub” or “my parachute is broken” incidents of 0.6.

2. Explore the maps.

While single player maps in FH used to crash you can now play with bot support, but you can still have a level all to yourself if you start your own internet game. That way all the vehicles are just sitting around waiting for you to hop in and examine the lay of the land.

3. Test out the vehicles.

While doing the above, you can also test out all the different vehicles. Since there is nobody else in the map to steal your tanks and planes you can take your time seeing how they perform, what their armour and weapons are like, and seeing if they will in fact fit down that narrow alley, or make it up that steep hill.

4. Practice with the new weapons.

Don’t assume that you will be able to grab your favorite standby weapons and it will perform exactly how it did in 0.61. The readme file has a long list of changes that have been made to the SMG’s, the player load outs, and even the addition of new weapons.

Wrapping things up:

I know that the urge to hop on a server will be pretty hard to resist once that password has been released, but this way you’ll be guaranteed to try out that new vehicle or weapon, and not make an ass of yourself when you don’t know how to use it properly. I’m sure that the game will be a lot more enjoyable if you have a solid idea of all the new content and how to use it, at the cost of 1 hour of frantically mashing the keyboard, trying to figure out how to set the timer on the satchel charge, or trying to get into that 7th position on the plan.

Also if you’re all playing single player that will give me a nice wait-free chance to hop into the servers without even looking at any of the documentation or even customizing the controls in BF's setting menu!

Good tips.

By the way....FH maps no longer crash on single player now that we merged with FHX and they coded some awesome AI support. Actually, the AI is alot smarter....

I agree, I always play the new maps ofline first. I like to be able to know where everything spawns, not guessing with ten other people at where the kt spawns on a new map.

Wasted effort Blistex......the real nOObs don't visit this forum......

It will be the same, only now people hopefully know about the parachutes and crosshairs......and i think this time around the devs didn't change anything that rigorous as in version FH 0.6. so maybe it won't be as bad after all. :)

Well there are a few of us that have some experience, but it is still 0.6 at the core.
