Kev4000;4385947You should back up your point kiddo. Else its not valid. Now watch me pick apart SymZ's arguement.

The BF2 engine is superior to the BF1942 in EVERY aspect, except performance, but thats a given. There are maybe a couple minor features in BF1942 which aren't in BF2, but those are minor, like maybe a line of code which has no equavalent in BF2. Which means BF1942 might be able to do something BF2 cannot, however BF2 can do countless things that BF1942 cannot. Especially with python.

Also, on performance. I'd believe thats why your bashing BF2 so much. Well of course in regular BF2, you'd need a 6800GT card to run everything on high settings. In FH2, you'll need an 8800GTS to run everything on high. Why is this? Well, lets take a look. On a regular BF2 vs FH2 map, the FH2 map will have triple the amount of objects placed. Many of these are just planks, signs, or hookahs. However, they add just that much to enviroment, which is part of graphics. If you look at the detail, FH2 has outstanding graphics exceeding that of CoD 4. When I'm talking about graphics I mean the whole scenario, not just a single tank or palm tree. In BF1942 you'd need a geforce 4 to run everything on high. Well for FH1 you'd need a 9800XT or a 6600GT. People complained to death about this horrible performance on FH1s part, and you're now admiring FH1 for having tip top performance. Well, it didn't. Its just that any modern low end card can still run FH1 at full, but it still doesn't mean FH1 isn't a performance hog. It required 1GB of ram to run at full settings, I had a computert with a 9600SE and 512MB ram and FH lagged. BF1942 required 256MB of ram to run at full settings. Really, the requirement for a better computer for FH2 then BF2 should've been expected. What I'm trying to get at, is you're arguements against the BF2 engine only apply to people with old computers. And if we want top of the line graphics, the devs cannot make the game suited for those computers. But don't worry, within a year a computer that can run FH2 at full will cost 400$.

Sure the BF2 engine might not be the most stable ever, but playing vanilla BF2 I rarely if ever get crashes anymore with 1.41. The crashes in FH2.1 are on the devs part, seeing as I didn't get nearly as many in FH2.0. It just means they haven't been entirely working within BF2s limitation. Nothing against the devs here, because FH2 is the most bug-free total conversion currently out for BF2. However I do hope they restore the stability of FH2.0.

I'm sure your post was a great read, but sadly I didn't read all of it. It felt right off the bat like you read me wrong. I never did say the BF1942 engine was good, nor did I even mention that previous engine. I did say that the BF2 engine is a resource pig and it honestly makes me feel disconnected from my on-screen toon.

Also I don't have a 6800GT I have an 8600GTS.

I also never said anything bad about the mod, ie. it being bug ridden/instable either. I've actually never had it crash yet.

So I hope you read as I picked apart your arguement, and I hate to tell ya but you missed what I was trying to get at by a mile and wasted alot of your time typing all that out. Sorry for you. :\

Anyhow to lighten the tone a bit I did play a few rounds last night and overall the experience was a bit better as I was ping'd at 120. I do have a gripe about silently getting smoked in a tank, it kind of kills the atmosphere, but I don't chalk that up to the mod, but rather the netcode and/or lag, but it can be an atmosphere killer.

Anyhow, you guys that DO remember know that I could never dislike the mod, it's just the 2nd time around with FH2 it's not grabbing and pulling me in as fast as FH1 did, which was like crack btw. :D

Peace guys, and cheers to all the old faces.

Maybe its just me, but everytime I play I find new ways to enjoy the mod D: If you dont like getting silent tank killed (I never have had it happen, save insta-1 shot), go on foot :P Try other things, it might spark your interest

yea, too bad they have terrible judgement. That test was awesome, but the final product sucked.
