Lol at the 300 pic
I suppose it may have been a result of a good few rounds that made me a little mad.
Its just annoying knowing that, the spec of black you can see on that dune hundreds of metres away can see you clearly through his scope and you cant do anything =( even typing his location goes widely un-noticed and the tankers are too busy blowing each other up.
oh well, im just going to steer clear of them from now on let my team die instead of me trying to take them out.
I didn't make it!
Lobo;4242044Sorry, I can't reply, I am too busy searching a resistant wooden log in my roof to hang myself
OP: Snipers are pretty pathetic in FH. You probably ran into one of the 3 players that can actually figure out how to make the bullets hit where you're aiming. I can't hit someone 40 feet away with a scoped rifle, but I'd easily hit them with a normal one. There's something screwy about sniper rifles and I can't figure them out. I think I've been able to get maybe 5 kills with them from probably 9 or 10 times of actually having the kit. I give up after a while and just spot tanks with the binocs, which turns out to be a lot more effective for the team.
If you know how to use one they can be deadly, but not game changing, like unknown soldier said, it's most useful to just watch certain hotspots of enemy activity. You help your team better by watching a flag or a bridge, rather than going out with the intent to rack up kills :P
I think if you have a score of even 10 - 0, or 10 - 1, you've done a good job. 30-17 on the other hand :P
But yeah, it's Africa, wait until Normandy when it's not open ground with no cover for half a continent :P I mean, half tracks right now are useless because you cant drive one without getting sniped by an AT rifle. Now, when Europe comes out, they will be poifect at what they are meant to do :P
Enemy snipers? I've heard stories of them from the Elders. Never seen one or known anyone who had seen one. Must be a myth. FH2 gruntlore.
As far as I've seen snipers play a very minor role... good k/d ratios, but overall low scores. I sure as hell usually don't go for the kit. They're fine as they are.
About a week ago I had funny duel with enemy sniper in Mersa Matruh. I was approaching the town from the cliffs and spotted enemy sniper in one of the bushes and he spotted me also. Then it started and it lasted till I had wasted more than 2/3 of my ammo as had he too. We changed shots but were nowhere near to hit until the sneaky enemy started to move towards me and I still couldn't hit him and he was luckier and won the great duel.
I just can't figure how to aim with them in longer ranges. :(
Dont forget about bullet drop :P It takes some time to get used to it but once you do it's natural and you can prone, scope, and shoot someone whos running :P --Not a Shameless Plug- My training map on the mapping section has a sniper shooting range if you want to try your aim and get a feel for the drop :P I suggest it *nod*
So, in SUMMATION and CONCLUSION, snipers aren't really much of a problem in FH2.
It seems, my friend, mr threadstarter, that you are the lone person out there having problems. I'm sorry, I really am, but as many of my esteemed colleagues have noted, it is rather rare to be killed by a sniper. Based on this solid conclusion, and compared with real historical data and research, we can also conclude that this was in fact the case in real life.
Therefore, let this thread be done with, so we don't have any more close calls with Lobo.
I normally use snipers as a pumped up Scout. Seriously, the same exact equipment except for a pistol and a scope. Yippee-skip. Still, using them as selection killers are good as well, like on offense (like others said) statics and other important pieces are good targets, and on defense, searching and destroying squad leaders is good. The bullet drop is bareable, but I just detest the German scope. I know it's probably historically accurate (as the FH devs used it), but the darn middle post is so thick that it can get pretty hard to line up shots requiring bullet drop (your target is completely covered). It's not an issue with the No.4, as it has thin lines and helpful aiming guides.

Maybe it can be made semi-transparent. It really is awful to use, hard to believe it was that thick... i thought it was my medium texture settings. Had same problem in FH1 after changing video drivers.
