Is it possible to make it so that, hmmm, wellll................ Say that you have an MG42 with you on Charlie sector(I don't know if you do or not, really) and there is an empty vehicle that is a space on sandbags. You enter the vehicle, and your weapon that was equipped when you entered it is your "machine gun". If he wants to kill the soldiers on the beach with a p38, let it be so. But is this possible? If not now, in BF2?

I don't see the problem here. I'm not a coder or a mod'er but imho this could be easily done. As far as I know the guns can have different firemodes ? Make it so that "firemode 2" is the deployed "version" and attach the appropriate animation to that "command" It's a makeshift solution and would definitely need some tweaking to get right, but it should be possible.

Great. Yet another reason to NOT be enthused about BF2. Looks like we're gonna have yet another half-assed engine that probably isn't that mod-friendly, which will mean we're all stuck with BS arcade crap with no way to mod around it.

Arcade's fine and all, but I like to know that the game is adaptable enough to allow for modding to create actual realism along the lines of, say, RO. If we're stuck with sort of the half-realism that you get in FH (which is largely due to the BF engine's limitations), I think I may just not buy BF2.

little offtopic.. do you remember how they did a WWII mod for BF:V? so modders can see or have starting base for WWII mods on BF:V engine? hmm I wonder if they'll be kind enough to do this one more time for BF2 :)...

You mean like in BFV when you jump in a jeep, and can fire your own weapon from the passenger seat? Or am I confused? :)

just watched that clip, and was a bit disappointed (disappointed that they didn't surprise me in a good way. i already feared this). when the tank gets shot it instantly stops, just like here. that tells me that they probably didn't offer momentum and the laws of motion any thought for bf2 either.

the rag doll engine looks crude. i haven't tried many games implementing this, so i'm not comparing. but the player models have pretty good animations while living, but as soon as they get shot they're dolls, doing unnatural things, falling in odd ways that one would think that the joints in the human body would prevent, and moving in ways that are not logical when one considers the cause of motion.

for instance when that chinese guy gets hit by the AT-rocket, his arms starts swinging..... why? and another chinese gets shot in his back and he rotates around his stomach, lifting the legs, before falling? the other guy who gets eaten up by the M249 starts dancing with his feet, rotating them randomly while getting hit in the stomach before falling. (hmm.. this made me thinking.... only chinese guys get shot in that clip, don't they?)

dice said that they had some work to do with the ragdoll physics, but i bet they still have work to do on it when BF3 is launched in 1.5yrs. just like in BF42 where you can see the death-animation over and over and over again on the same body by throwing grenades at it.
