And it´s true that the NS-propaganda looks aesthetic - and that´s (in the law-makers opinion) the danger.
This is what happens when success gets to your head; To avoid complaints, FH now wants to pander to everyone and will go to the lowest common denominator to do it.
I just hope someone puts out a historical accuracy patch SOON after Friday.
I imagine one of the cool-people aruond here will come out with a nice historical-emblem patch. I can live without, but it makes it a little cooler to see that Nazi-Battle flag waving in the overcast virtual russian sky. Is the German battle Flag (one on historical-patch) still illegal is you, say take the swastika off the middle and put the iron cross there? Is taht still considered Illegal since it's a nazi flag, jsut without the swasika? If it isnt, you could make that flag instead and get rid of the god-awful flag that represents it in vanilla, and currently, on this one.
The Jackalx2kMagazines won't publish FH in germany if it's filled with nazi things. We won't be allowed to sell the DVD if we left swastikas in the game. Game cafes won't be allowed to run FH because of them etc. etc. If someone wants they can create a swastika patch. Open each skin in photoshop and paste all the swastikas you want. Paste thousands of them because they make gameplay better!
This is all the explanation I need- I would rather have a greater fan base with a more diverse range of talent playing the game rather than a less-widely distributed, if historically accurate mod. I'll just wait until someone with some time makes a historical accuracy patch- there's nothing quite as morally satisfying as raining down 105mm howitzer fire on top of a Nazi flag and watching the kill count cilmb :)
What started me on this was looking at the models available on the main site. EVERY single plane modeled for this mod has the swastika on it. Then you get this thing from the devs how it's illegal and unimportant to have historically accurate signs that some find offensive. So began to wonder, hmmm, if it's illegal to make then why is it all over the website on the plane models, and why do the helmets on Crete have the proper luftwaffe insignia on them, and certain wreck models etc. It just didn't add up. My other question was, are all the devs from Germany? I understand the sensitive nature of the symbol in former Axis countries, but if all the devs aren't from Germany, can't the mod be released OUTSIDE of it? I don't know, I'm just looking for loopholes here as there are just as many, if not more people who would like historically accurate Germans than those casual players who are more interested in the game as a FPS, than anything with a historical context. SIDE RANT: And I'm tired of the argument we're supposed to accept: "Do you really need them? Do you really stop to look at the flags etc.?" Well the anwer is no. But what if the American flag wasn't in the game and all the Allies just a British flag? Then people would bitch and somebody could say the same thing..." Do you really stop to look and notice the flag isn't American..." So that argument isn't the point. Please stop using it.
The simple way to end this once and for all is to just release the original "illegal" skins as a separate download, and let people do with them what they please. They already exist, so what is the harm in releasing them to the public?
I agree with Hail of Nails, i only want historical accuracy because i hate the vannila German and Japanese flags...
sometimes history needs to be forgotten
That's among the most ignorant things I've ever heard in my life.
History all the way none of this crap stuff we want historic.
