I was playing last night on one of the Chicago-based servers, got an excellent ping and no lag. Great job on the new maps, BTW!

My fun on one of the "push" maps was somewhat diminished by the server-side settings (I believe...) that allowed nice, bright tags to pop up whenever you touch an enemy with your crosshair. This particular map featured lots of nice cover in the form of hedgerows and brush for the Allies to hide behind, but this was rendered useless by the fact that all the enemy (or us!) had to do was scan the hedges till a tag popped up, and open fire. This made it nearly impossible for the Allies to advance. The opposite was true, of course, I killed several guys using the same technique.

Seems kind of silly for the map makers to put in all that gorgeous foliage only to have it rendered useless by what amounts to X-ray vision....

On servers with no tags, there should either be an effort to pick maps where it's fairly easy to tell the enemy from the good guys, or relax TK rules a bit! Accidents are bound to happen.

I always thought that the best system was the one used in WWII online, where your forces were visible via the tags, but the enemy was not. The only exception to this was aircraft.

I personally enjoy servers that set tags very low. I used to do that on my old server and the 9th Infantry server also does it. I think your tags should show when you are close enough to see the face of a friendly unit and not at all for enemy units. I also like playing without hit markers but I don't know of any servers without hit markers. I'd personally like to see an option to turn off even the killed messages. If I shoot someone and he drops behind a wall or hedge, I shouldn't know if I killed him or not. I think that would be great. To each his own I guess.

Good points, especially the death messages. Now you're always sure the danger is gone when you know he's dead, but without the messages you won't know until you've seen his body or got killed ;) Also aren't we graphically far enough to be able to recognise uniforms clearly enough ? I'd think so but that just might be me :) On the other hand readable nametags on uniforms isn't possible yet I guess, so you would never know who's who :uhm: But then the friendly show, enemy don't thing would fix that nicely, as Bikewer mentioned.

You will not recognize a grass ninja's uniform. Ever. Because he is the grass.

Of course you could always check tabs to see your score but thats not always practical. I agree, you should be able to tell by the uniforms. FH2 will be far better than FH in this reguard because picking up enemy kits wont change your helmet, just your weapon. FH2, FTW!

Oh you silly silly man.... EVERYONE will recognize the Ninjas because they will be on fire.:nodding:

I totally agree with Ultimate Drifter, but there's a lil' problem : even if the killing messages don't appear, you still can look at your own score in the tabs to make thyself sure that you have actually killed the guy... But it would be even great, cause scanning tabs anytime isn't so easy so I vote yes, double yes and, oh then again yes :) Enemy tags shouldn't appear even when they are close to you... friendly tags should appear in that case in order to recognize your clanmates... this wouldn't help for close combat cause tags are too high when really near. The 79th use to reduce the tag distance to the minimum, of course :p

[€dit]he he really funny, I wrote the same idea than Ultimate Drifter at the exact same time

For the Ninjas, all should do like me : shoot everywhere without aiming, then apologize for tk :D

Right, better to be sorry than to be dead. Nah, I rarely shoot unless I'm absolutely certain it's an enemy. We've had this discussion a few times before and I'm definitely on the low nametag setting side of it. I really can't understand servers which have the setting set so high that you see the nametag before you see the player. I also believe it was said that you infact can have the setting set so nametags only show up on your teammates. Strange thing is, I've never seen this on any server. Would be the best solution in my opinion. Why is there no server using this?

Its really annoying to play like this, specially in german servers. i mostly play in wolf, where tag names are low, but sometimes its full, and i have to play in home oft the damned... and others. tag names are high there! Did someone suggested to those servers to set the tag names low??

Also, you have to love the locked tanks on most of the new maps. If your a German and you see a T34... shoot the damn thing! Well... unless its a Panzer 747 then you get a TK and have to explain you are just a trigger happy suxor. Serious though, FH2 will fix a lot of the problems that require high tags to be set on servers. If tanks and planes are locked you won't have to worry about killing a friendly as much.
