From what I understand, BF2's flag capture system is similar to that of BFV's. If so, problem solved, no extra coding required.

Similar but different enough. BFV has the scaling timer based on who's in the flagzone. BF42 does not.

I really don't know how requiring only 1 man to grey a flag promotes clan play. It's just a stupid feature of the game that can't be fixed (easily?) in my opinion.

And clan play.. its just a competition of who can exploit the games flaws the best.

Disagreed. Clans do try to use almost all means possible to win, but it's hardly the factor that decides anything. E.g. quite a few of the top clans don't use pixelaims because they simply don't need to.
