I know that the weak parts in a tank are the back and the treads, but I also want to know if hitting the the turret, electrical box, or down the hatch do more damage. Also, do skirts completely negate the effects of an infantry AT weapon? Thanks!

Turret is usually one of the more heavily armored places, however on for example the IS2, hitting the commander cupola can hurt it severely, even though it is a tough target. On the Panzer III, any place on it is impervious to the crappy British Boyes rifle, except for the hatch, which for some reason it always left open in battle...As for electrical box, it won't work because we don't have tanks that can lose treads, turret rotation, etc. As far as I know, in FH skirts completely neutralized the shaped-charge AT weapons but I think in IRL there was a small chance of it causing some damage.

What do you mean my the commander's cupola? But hitting the electrical box, does it cause more damage, like hitting the treads or back?

So it would go like this 1st being least damage, the last being most damage: 1.Front 2.Turrets 3.Skirts 4.Treads 5.Back 6.Cupola

(i love destroying tanks, though ive always wondered whether treads or back are best spots to hit)

Most tanks did not have as good of armor on the turret as on the hull.

Tiger II ausf B for instance had I think about 150mm on front hull but had IIRC only 100mm on turret front. Sides were 80mm but sloped.

In theory skirts on Panzers should block all Infantry A/T weapons. Since the shaped charge is a small diamater hole lots of hits dont necessarily disable the skirt.

There was normally a electrical box inside the tank on firewall and usually was only damaged when a round penetrated or if a heavy round didnt hit but still shook the tank up.

Early tanks you should be able to damage by hitting top surface of hull, turret roof, or belly of tank.

Shouldnt the best spot to hit be the top-back part of the tank behind the turret? Thats where the engine is and it throws in 2 surfaces that are weakest on a tank: the back and the top. Plus in FH1 once the engine is on fire the tank is almost useless as you can out maneuver it a lot easier.

plus the back usually isnt sloped. in FH if you jump on the back on almost any tank and shoot down onto the engine grill with a AT rifle you can kill it ALOT faster than pecking away at the sides. plus, a shaped AT charge will 1shot the tank from there :D

ALLWAYS go upstairs in a building when you have a At rifle or an other AT weapon, from there you can easily hit the soft spots of a tank, plus the tank may not have a great enough elevation to hit or even see you.

Yes, the rear top (behind the turret) is ALWAYS the sweet spot in any tank. Pretty much any tank will go down with one shot from a cannon (or 2 from an ATR). Failing that, the rear is usually the next best (esept on a few tanks like the tiger), failing that, the sides (especially on the panther), failing that, the treads, failing that, youre probobly dead anyways.

or failing all that, just get em to chase you to a AA gun, and watch as they get launched across the map when they touch it
