I like the idea, It would stop any old tom, dick n harry from jumping into a tank including the enemy. It could be implemented just like pilot kits are on the airstrips and tables etc.

the wrench is the repair kit right? but the wrench should be used for very light in-field repairments, but i like the idea

I don't care about this realism-wise, but I do like this idea on maps where you have a spare class or big tank maps like the new Kursk. It would look good (which is probably also a drawback, as that means skinning) and, if we're doing an all-round engineer nerf (which seems the way of it at the moment), it's a good idea for a replacement. You would have to take the wrench from the engineer though, otherwise it'd be a pretty pointless class...

Engineers are for demolitions, which you don't need on all maps. Like AT on Omaha, they just aren't useful in some maps. Reason people play'em is because they're as good as Assault, and some like the Carbine more than the Garand. Getting rid of an engineer completely would leave room for different classes, like Pilots on some maps, and the Spec Ops on Arnhem, and in cases like new Kursk, a Tank Repair class. Maps like Foy could have both Officers and Support Gunners, because Engineers really aren;t useful on those maps except for repairing the lone Hanomag, or as of 0.61, expacking the hell out of people, while the MGs are useful as you all know, and the Nerbelwurfers can benefit from the added spotting. But Engineer would have a place on maps like Omaha, where their demolitions ability can get them into the German Bunkers. Other maps could be tailored with this demolition role in mind.

No it wont, the pilot class just gives people parachutes, that doesnt mean you cant enter a plane without it.

I dont think people will mind driving a tank without the wrench. Plus I think there wont even be a wrench no more in the next version.
