In a mathematical equation: 76mm gun + excellent speed + good armor for its size = the Chaffee is greater than Almost no armor + the same gun + smaller speed = something worse than an M24 or Sherman.

The Chaffee didn't have the same gun. It had a 75mm M6 which AFAIK was unique to that vehicle. I don't know how good it was, however. Anlushac?? :D

It was an excellent gun, quite a step up from the M10 76mm I think, but that's probably due to the ammo too.

Not that this says anything but that M-10 in vanilla was like a super tank i remember -it was owning everything. I hated vanilla for what they did to realism of tank warfare. That dude with the M-36 commercial a few pages back made me laugh good job :beer:

The 75mm M6 gun in the Chaffee was a vehicle mounted version of the 75mm gun designed originally for the the B25 gunship.

It was a lightweight gun with a alloy barrel. It was rated to fire 500 rounds versus a normal Sherman 75mm's 1000 rounds before needing replaced. The normal Sherman M3 75mm weighed 893lbs. The M6 75mm in the Chafee weighed 400lbs.

The M24 Chaffee's gun fired all the same ammo the Sherman 75mm did, the most common being M61 APCBC, M72 AP-T HVAP, and M48 HE.

The Chaffee carried 48 rounds in wet storage bins in the floor, seems they did learn something.

For gameplay purposes The Chaffee's 75mm gun would play no different than the Sherman's 75mm gun. Not a tank buster but a hell of a good gun for a light tank.

snotvodIt would be much easier to hide in the bushes if your name doesn't appear in red or blue when the enemy happens to aim at your general direction!! Also very unrealistic, even with teammates. (off topic) It would add a touch of realism to the game if you would have to look at the uniform to know friend from foe. this might be hard, cuz when you pick up an enemys kit you suddenly dress like one. (off topic)

Um, most people don't seem to realize this but you can turn the name tags off or lower the distance that they are visible at. It is a server option that server admins can change. WOLF tried turning them off, but sadly TKing became rampant because people didn't want to figure out who was the enemy and who wasn't. This discussion is interesting, carry on! smilie.gif

i sometimes Tk my own guys even with name tags im kind of a nervous nelly on the trigger. This must have happed lots in real warfare as well I'm guessing

Well in real warfare it is a human being with a life just like you you are killing, not a bunch of pixels pasted together. And on the internet playing BF42 people feel like they will never be able to get back at them in a seriously hurtful way. Therefore people don't care. DiCE should make an electricutor that whenever you TK or shoot another teamate you get shocked, depending on how bad you hurt him. lol that would take away customers

lol, that wouldnt help. Imo the onyl thing that helps would be a system shutdown when TK! :D
