Sgt.kar98And Ffs!Dont remove the Flak shield from all flaks!

I didn't say to remove shield from all flaks. All I said was to add the unshielded variant to spawn randomly in less numbers than shielded version or just adding it to static flak positions in main bases and such.

Great idea, seconded.

Nishatwait, what exactly is the Zünderstellmechinusmus..i tried googling it...is it a altitude fuse?

jep, i think you would call that in english

also as i know shields weren't used in static flak positions. just the so called Luftware Erdkampfabteilungen used them because they often had to deal with enemy tanks at the front and those 88mm where also often used as artillery (and also as flak). in fact the 88mm used at the front were part of the Luftwaffe and not of the army.

as i know the 128mm FlaKzwilling was used stationary - too heavy too transport like the 88. 12,8%20cm%20flakzwilling%20color.jpg the 10,5 if not stationary was mainly used on AA trains 10,5%20cm%20eisenbahnflakbatterie%20color.jpg maybe that beast would be a nice addition: 15%20cm%20flak%20geraet%2050%20eisenbahnflak.jpg EisenbahnFlaK 50

do they have an AA gun that acts more like a shotgun? Like after the shell leaves the barrel, it explodes shooting shrapnal towards the target?

Probably not as having the explosion early would cause all the subsequent pieces to lose kinetic energy due to airfriction very fast. That and the damage density wouldn't be very high.

Instead of making random 88 shield/unshield can you just make two distinct statics so that the mapper can place them seperately?

Oh and how about a rightclick charge up mode for the 88 AA shells to allow them to explode as user selected altitudes?

i think not or i at least don't know of a FlaK gun working that way. but they used large batteries of guns and as the projectiles exploded at the desired height, the air was full of grenade fragments:

That would require quite a lot of muzzle energy loss. Furthermore, the dispersion of the shot would be enormious at that range.

did they make a shell were after x seconds the shrapnal shoots forwards? i would think that would have more penetaration power because the power is directed out one direction, instead of all directions. Plus the inertia that is already present in the shell. Thats what I meant by shotgun. Sorry for the confusion.

but with spreading the shrapnels into all directions you got a better hit probability - that was more important for te FlaK then a very high penetration power vs aircrafts - and a nice side effect was that those grenades also could be used vs infantry (and in fact was sometimes used that way) because the fuse was time controlled and not actually altitude controlled (read again abut it - sry wasn't really sure some posts ago) - but with muzzle velocity, decrease of speed and time you could very exactely control where the projectile should explode (even vs infantry by letting it explode over their positions)

If I'm not mistaken the 88s were also used as artillery right? Now I know adding an accentuated arc to the shells (mortar-like) would make it impossible to be used as AT or AA but if there was an option to change that like pressing up/down arrow keys or right button I think it would be a nice addition to it since it was such a versatile weapon that worked as AA, AT and even artillery.
