Or at least, MY ideal FH2. Feel free to type out your opinions as to what would make FH2 your ideal game. Anyway, as much as I adore FH1, there were a few things that kind of irked me. Of course, the very few levels with underdog armies was one, but also the lack of attention to the Italian Campaign or the Far East. These are, of course, my opinions (and I'm pretty sure the huge majority of FH players don't care about the "other" armies or the "other" campaigns). So, I tallied up the total amount of levels per campaign as well as the number of levels per army in FH1. 60 Levels: 14 Eastern Europe Campaign 20 Western Europe Campaign 13 Pacific Campaign 7 North Africa Campaign 6 Early War "Blitz" Campaign (Including Crete, Battle of Britain, and Rheinuebung) Nations: Germany - 45 United States - 25 U.K. - 16 U.S.S.R. - 14 Japan - 13 Poland - 2 France - 1 Italy - 1 Canada - 1 Finland - 1 Australia - 1 Ok, that being said, my wish for FH2 is that it'll partition just a tad more levels to the underdogs; both for variety and realism. So, assuming the very best optimistic future (knowing the awesome amount of work the FH team puts into this), let's assume FH2 will also contain 60 levels by the time, several years from now, it wraps up. Let's also assume that all the armies of FH1 will return and, for good measure, China is thrown in (who wouldn't want the Far East Campaign?). Here is my ideal FH2: 60 LEVELS BLITZ CAMPAIGN - 6 LEVELS ALLIES Poland - 2 levels France - 2 levels UK - 2 levels AXIS Germany - 6 levels NORTH AFRICA CAMPAIGN - 10 LEVELS ALLIES UK - 7 levels USA - 1 level France - 1 level Australia - 1 level AXIS Germany - 6 levels Italy - 4 levels EASTERN EUROPE CAMPAIGN - 13 LEVELS ALLIES USSR - 13 levels AXIS Germany - 11 levels Finland - 2 levels PACIFIC/FAR EAST CAMPAIGN - 11 LEVELS ALLIES USA - 8 levels China - 2 levels Australia - 1 level AXIS Japan - 11 levels ITALIAN CAMPAIGN - 7 LEVELS ALLIES USA - 2 levels UK - 2 levels France - 1 level Poland - 1 level Canada - 1 level AXIS Germany - 6 levels Italy - 1 level WESTERN EUROPE CAMPAIGN - 13 LEVELS ALLIES USA - 7 levels UK - 3 levels Canada - 2 levels France - 1 level AXIS Germany - 13 levels TOTAL ARMY COUNT USA - 18 levels UK - 14 levels USSR - 13 levels FRANCE - 5 levels CANADA - 3 levels POLAND - 3 levels CHINA - 2 levels AUSTRALIA - 2 levels GERMANY - 42 levels JAPAN - 11 levels ITALY - 5 levels FINLAND - 2 levels As one can tell, there actually isn't that much of a significant difference in either the campaign or the army count. Italian Campaign is 7 levels, added to the 13 proposed of the Western Europe, and you get 20, i.e. the number of Western Europe levels in FH1. I also have some ideas as to what levels could be made for a few of the armies. For Canada, I was thinking Dieppe would be an awesome idea: a failed prelude to D-Day! Once the real thing starts though, the Canadians will get a rematch at either Juno Beach or a remake of Liberation of Caen. The (Free) French Army, meanwhile, will get a "Homecoming" in southern France, where following Operation Dragoon, they liberate Toulon: Western Europe's largest naval base and the French Navy's primary historical city, the site where, nearly 2 years earlier, the last of the Petainist Vichy Navy scuttled itself to prevent the Germans from acquiring it in Case Anton. Toulon's port, combined with the larger supply port of Marseille, would soon provide over a third of the supplies reaching the Allies in northern France (until the capture of Antwerp). For the Blitz/Early War levels, one of the French ones should take place in Norway, where I believe there have been no BF levels in so far (at least, not in the early war; SW's Telemark doesn't count). Besides a Battle of Britain level, the other early war British level would take place in Crete/Greece again. Poland, of course, gets the immediate environment around Monte Cassino in the Italian Campaign while France cracks the Gustav Line and Canada liberates Ortona. Italy's impending surrender approaches as the British land at Sicily (Operation Husky, anyone?). In North Africa, the Italians would have more of a presence than in FH1 (as should be appropriate), and either they or the Germans (or, if we can have more than two armies per level, both) will storm the French at Bir Hakeim. The Australians may (though if a better scenario can be found, so be it) rematch with the Italians at Tobruk. The Pacific will remain similar, except now the Chinese would make their debut; although the nationalists may take priority, perhaps the People's Army would make an appearance (I set apart two levels for China). Meanwhile, over in the Eastern Campaign the Finnish would face off the Soviets twice in the Continuation War. A hell of a lot of work for the FH2 team, but with the positive outlook I have on the future of FH2, I can see it as a definite goal to reach. So what's your ideal FH2 dreams?
If I see just one China map, all will be well. Japanese Katana vs Chinese Dao ftw.:D
I'd love to see some more infantry focuses maps, I could care less about blank late war uber tank vs other blank war uber tank. I'd love to see each country represented well, its a shame to see such nice things for relativly unused countries in Fh1.
I'd love to see Operation Overlord paratrooper landings. Sorry, was that against your whole point...:) I really like your ideas - it is a shame that some countries have only 1 map each. Why spend all that time making the content for a specific army, if there is going to be only one map?!
No, I'd like to see paratrooper maps on D-Day too. I saw one in a mod called Liberation for BF1942 that was really interesting.
I mean, I placed 7 levels aside for the US in the Western Front, so why not? (Yeah, there were British and French paratroopers too, but the US has the most levels alloted here by my standards).
As for the armies, I know some people will bring up the fact that French and Polish forces used American/British stuff after the invasions of their respective countries, but I'm pretty sure (100% sure with the French) that some of their nation's equipment stayed with them. So where the French used British stuff at Bir Hakeim, we could have a couple of MAS36s and a MAS38 lying around for pickup. Once the Vichy North African Army rejoined the Allies and combined with the Free French, more French equipment joined the lot. They were resupplied by the Americans, but some of the French stuff stayed with them, including planes. French planes, as well as Lebel WW1 rifles (I sense a trade with BF1918!), Ruby pistols, MAS36s, and Chatellerault Modele 24/29 guns would not be out of place if sprinkled in small quantities in a battle near the Gustav Line. And for the Liberation of Toulon? The French would very likely be finding some more of its old weapons along the way (appropriated from Vichy police or German troops who used them), so they wouldn't be odd there either; in fact, it would be awesome to give the French a Somua tank on that level that they found! A 1940-era tank facing off in a 1944 scenario! Sounds like suicide, but it could prove to be extremely interesting. Imagine walking into a barn in the rural outskirts and finding a Somua hidden there with a MAS38 tank commander kit lying nearby... in 1944!
I'm not as sure if the Polish had as many armaments following the fall of their country, so I'll leave it to an expert to tell me if it would be unrealistic to have a minute amount of Polish arms during the Fourth Battle of Monte Cassino.
I think that is a pretty good breakdown as far as campaigns.
I would like to see a Sicily and/or Anzio Beach landing, besides Omaha there are no western sea invasion maps and those are always fun maps.
Hey where is the hungarian that is more 7-8 level:D
Too many Frenchies, there is no "White Flag Class" in FH (yet).
Otherwise good compilation but you better come up with concrete Map ideas instead of saying : "germans eastern Europe 14" and stuff. Theres got to be a good balance in Tank, Infantry, Air battles and combined arms maps too.
Btw, its called "Maps" , levels are in Super Mario.
Josey WalesToo many Frenchies, there is no "White Flag Class" in FH (yet).
French did put up a great fight, there commander*waits for Komrad-B* kinda went AFK. There tanks were better, but I guess were inployed improperly. If the French and GB(under there treaty thinie)atacked they may have ended the war since a counter attack is the enemy of of a Blitz.
Btw, its called "Maps" , levels are in Super Mario.
FINALLY, some one who gets the point!
I was just kidding with the frenchies, i know they fought hard and brave (and short, 5 weeks) and deserve a strong place in FH.
Anyway, i prefer Winter War maps with the fins over french maps anytime.
