Hello,

Thanks for the mod! Very impressive atmosphere and quality :)

It's good to see SP in there so I can play some of the mod. I have some problems playing online.

I feel I should point out that SP isn't just so people can play offline, it also insures the longevity of a mod long into the future so all that hard work can be appreciated even when MP servers are sitting empty. Fashions change, people move on to other games (and come back again) so I think SP is important.

I'm biased because I use SP a lot, but I think it's a valid point.

Tally ho.

I've never used SP in battlefield games. The AI sucks so much... why bother?

SP is really good to practice in if you have any difficulties with something(AT-rifle, rifles etc etc). Its also fun to abuse and make fun of the bots. They wont do anything to you unlike people. :)

The AI sucks in FH because it's not finished yet. I was just trying to add some encouragement, mabe inspire a few more to lend a hand. Check out the AIX mod for a well tweaked AI that is a worthy enemy.

When I first started playing bf1942, I only played single player for months. It was my first fps and god knows I needed the practice. When I found the pleasures of multiplayer (The first time I actually managed to kill someone), I think I never went back to SP. And then came forgotten hope and the rest is history.

The point remains, SP is invaluable stepping stone for the newbies out there and even some experienced players prefer single player gameplay.

Fact is a lot of people want single player to play without a valid CD key (in other words, using a pirated copy). But this can be a good thing, as they might end up liking FH2 so much that they buy battlefield for the online play.

The big cutback in SP capability is an issue which has troubled me for quite some time; and it is an apparent departure from the philosophy of FH1, which was SP rich.

In FH1, 83% of all official maps listed at the Forgotten Hope website were SP capable. In addition, several fan maps were created, almost all of which were SP playable. (Much thanks to bizness in particular for his efforts at adding SP or converting MP-only maps to SP -capable,) But FH2 is not nearly as SP-friendly - at least not yet. By my count of the 13 official maps, only 5 are SP capable. Only 38% of FH2 is accessible to SP. Said another way, 62% is completely inaccessible unless a player happens to be able to connect to a server which he can connect well with happens to be playing it . It does little good to say "go play MP", for the usual problems with connectibility, satisfactory length of playing time, opportunity to play a particular map. Some maps I have never seen played online. For example I have never seen Operation Hyacinth, Sidi Rezegh or Bardia online. I would particularly love to play Hyacinth, with its unique mapstyle of a raid by LRDG/SAS, but I've never been able. I understand that particular map is difficult to make SP, but is that the story for all of them?

For more than a year I was under the impression that FH2 would have at least as much SP as FH1 (see the threads below: FH2 Singleplayer - http://forums.filefront.com/forgotten-hope-general-discussion/315355-fh2-singleplayer-2.html

FH2 SP - http://forums.filefront.com/fh2-suggestions/333641-fh2-sp.html)

Has something changed? Is SP being phased out? Are singleplayers not welcome?

How can you come up with that conclusion if you've never played SP? Having suffered innumerable woes attempting to play various versions and mods of the battlefield series online, SP and Co-op are my only means of playing the game, personally i find that the AI is pretty effective especially when playing with 'high' AI difficulty, okay they stick rigidly to the AI pathmaps, but thay aren't half accurate with rifles and artillery, in the case of the latter on the Bf1942 series and mods. Having been dissapointed by the lack of extra SP/Co-op support with the last patch, i attempted to play online, playing under a sudonym, on a lightly populated server. Played about a minute and a half and got kicked by punkbuster, glosed the game, which revealed a pop-up from my anti-virus protection asking if i wanted to give internet access to punkbuster, selected yes and restarted FH2, attempted to rejoin server, needless to say i was kicked almost immediately, realised i had an outdated version of punkbuster, updated it to the latest version, and tried again, the result being the same and now SP won't work. I get to the kit/spawn select then the game freezes solid, using between 800-860MB of RAM in the process.

@jumjum: You have never seen Bardia online? I played every map online several times, the only one that seems to be sorta rare is Alam Halfa, but that´s maybe just me. hslan has every map in it´s rotation (at least the 64 player versions).

Why do you believe that singleplayers are not welcome? I mean foremost the battlefield series is a Multiplayer Online Game and thus Dice themselves never really bothered with the AI for the series.

The main reason FH2 has less AI and thus SP support is the time and manpower it takes. Learn programming AIs for BF2 and join the team!

That's all I can say.
