Now I know why I love FH. because it is over all, much more realistic than Red Orchestra. Every other word regarding tank combat in that game is "balance" I was reading about putting the KT in that game. They were arguing about KT turret rotation speed, penetration, implementation evn BEFORE its in game. All there is is a model! Maybe if they played FH they would realize that although the KT owns, it is destroyable and its existence doesn't cause a lack of allied players on maps with it. The last post I read there said "when the KT comes nobody will be Russian." Ive played RO a couple of times and frankly FH1/FH2 tank combat is much better.

They estimate that the Germans should have 4 KTs on some maps. They would be augmented by 2 panthers and maybe a tiger 1. the Russians would have "at least 6 is2s" 8 t34s and a plethora of other cannon fodder. Why 4 KTs? why not just 1? There is only 1 KT active on all FH1 maps except Breakthrough, were a second KT will spawn after like 15 minutes. Additionally how is one suppose to have "Teamwork" if each player can grab his "own"

In RO they insist on having a realistic tank crew yet at the same time they nerf the actual ballistic performance. It just strikes me as absurd. Being self labeled as a realism mod but at the same time making unnecessary and enormous concessions to the n00bs who play. They really need a man like Lobo running that show over there as he really spells it out. A lot of the arguments used on those forums quite frankly wouldn't fly here, and anybody making them would certainly be called out and laughed off the boards for it. (a practice which I do not oppose)

I just dont understand why they dont just make everything the same! They might as well make every tank a box with tracks and a gun on top call it a "mark 12 mediocre mobile" and give them to both teams. All players have identical uniforms and weapons and basicly you run around on a gray landscape. If the damage modles are equal, why even bother distinguishing anything? Why spend hours or days or weeks making a leet model and some uber skins if, in the end that is the only thing that makes it different from the "other guy"

I guess its just another reason why FH is my religion

Yeah, I love RO, but man the tank combat is really messed up. Tigers are weak as hell in RO. Of course, Tigers aren't invincible, but there is no way ONE T34 should be able to take on ONE Tiger all by himself from a distance. It's bordering ludicrous. This is why I stick with infantry combat in RO -- that is what the game was based off of anyway.

Nothing a lend-leased bazooka can't solve.

Anyways RO has a problem, the lack of the main "lovers" of such heavies, the airplanes, a KT can be the queen of the party there

Actually, the bane of tanks in real life was anti tank artillery and later on Tank Hunters became more and more a threat for tanks. Not planes. Planes where extremely ineffective* against tanks which i explained sometime ago which detailed reports regarding losses of tanks and the cause of the loss. *Note: Pilot claims are known to be horrendous inaccurate.

i like the RO tank battle, really long ranges nice aiming system, weakspot ricochets ...

and if your tigers get killed by a single t34-76 you are doing something wrong, i played with a friend on a tank only map the new one with those really long distances of more than 1000meters. We sat in a tiger and 7 t-34 were shooting at us and almost all their shoots bounced of were killed 6 of them when the last one got into our flank and hit us hard twice ... cause our tracks got disabled and we could turn anymore .

i m not active in the RO community i only play from time to time but i would like a KT but with their way superior angled armor and deadly maingun i dont know how they would affect gameplay, i mean i killed a IS2 with a panzer III once but it took ages (and a stupid tanker on the other side).

anyway i would like to see how they do it

I too like RO tanks much BUT if you are just playing vanilla RO they are not that great thanks to overdone effect of angling (positioning your tank in angled position and if done right nothing can harm you). Those servers that run AB mod make it so much more enjoyable experience (it tweaks tanks to be more accurately realistic). Then the new fan content mod that adds new ammo to some tanks (you can now actually kill something with Panzer 3's thanks to new special ammo), I don't know if it includes AB mod, and AT-cannons + few new tanks.

One thing that has made me wonder is that in RO many players suggest using your HE ammo when fighting in extreme distances. That makes sense because AFAIK HE ain't affected by distances like AP (yes I'm no expert in these things so its just my own conclusion, if someone knows better could they explain it) so it would deal much better damage than any AP in long distances.

But yeah I would love to see how KT would work out in RO. It could be horrible in vanilla but if they could made it AB mod compatible then it should be great.

why that ? it is a legit fun game ...

also people fire HE when the enemy if perfect angled and normal AP only bounces off switch to HE and hit a few times and done ...

i killed a tiger with a t34(76) in hull down position, hit him like 10 times with He then he was down :D
