Yeah.. I wonder how the allied will kill the Tiger at the Mareth Lines. I do really look forward what the allied will get in exchange as the germans allready get too much offensive weapons.

No, it takes several HEAT shells to destroy the matilda. I guess it depends on range, but to the front armor atleast. Takes 3 shots for the matilda to destroy the panzer 4f2 I believe, and it reloads much faster.
I would like to point out on the map aberdeen the grant have the wrong gun curently as far as i remember(i think it does on all maps were its present). So i hope it will become better ones it get the right one before last patch it whas to powerfull according to a dev on the forums a wile ago. Because curently on that map the brits are almost always being mainbase camped and most people rather try to make a run for it in a smal car/truck then make a nice tank fight because the grant isent what its surpose to be.(im not asking for balance but that people understand that the grant is surpose to be a bit different then it is as far as we have been told, and ones this happens a map like aberdeen is proberly alot more fun again and will have theese nice big tank battles we hade before the last patch ) And year the Brits have som nice tanks i would rather have a Sherman/cusader-mk3 enyday then eny off the curent German tanks ingame for alot of reasons And i have a feeling the Tiger will get alot off atention ones it have been located so destryoing it will be fun and a challenge and im sure all the curent at weapons ingame are doing som kind off damage to it eccept perhabs the 2 pounder and AT rifles;-) or tanks with 20 mm guns unless you hit in a specifik sweet spot.
HEAT ain't affected by range but FH2 may have somekind of way of taking angle of hit to account so maybe thats the reason why sometimes Matilda takes more hits. And by angles I don't mean sloped armor but that the tank you shoot isn't at 90 degree angle and because of that the armor value of place you hit is increased. And if angle is too great shot may be deflected.
Now about the topic of PzGr40. I personally don't use them alot as normal AP does the same job IF I'm on long barreled Pz3. Only when there is thos annyoinh matilda's or valentine's around I switch to better ammo. But kev4000 makes good point by saying you could maybe use PzGr40 90% of time because tanks don't live so long.
IMO best tank in FH2 right now is crusader III because that small devil has great gun which can kill every tank germans throw at you and when at danger you can run away thanks to you speed. 2 pounder tanks are just awful but that cruiser tank in bardia and tobruk is nice.

it's 1 shot if you shoot it right (side shots)
it takes many shots if you shoot the wrong place though.
noone ask you to shoot everything head on.
2 pdr guns generally have to fire 3-4 shots to kill a German medium tank. if shoot in fatal place it's 1 shot kill though.
and personally i save my PZG40s for serious tank battles. it's a waste to use them on crusaders(obviously) and grants(if you have long barrel and is only facing 1 grant due to the grant got a wrong gun ...)
crusader III is indeed nice but... her armour is also paper like(it's OK in tank battles since most are just 1 shot kill) and is quite vulnerable to small targets like AT guns.
for a all-rounded is a panzer IIIJ long barrel. not perfect but could deal with 90% of situations.

As I am studying matericalistic science of WWII at my college I have a pretty good view of the different types of tanks and how they were deployed during WWII and how many factors are calculatet within FH2, however I am not yet able to tell what schematic or program you guys used to tranfer values from the real tanks to the game and how far they were modified. Values like speed, enginetorque, acceleration v1, turrettraversespeed, armorvalues but maybe also factors like engineloudness, smokegeneration, crewexperience, comouflageability and so on.
sure all these things have an inpact on battle but keep in mind this is a game run on a limited engine that is modded until it breaks. there is just stuff you cant put in because it just isnt possible.
and about the tank shell discussion i dont think anything will get changed in this area
a good german tanker will save his "special" ammo for special targets and not waste them. when you live long enough you will pray that you dindt waste your last pzgr on that crusader because now you are facing a matilda and have not means to kill it.
so if a tanker only fires his special ammo and still dies before using it all up he is not a good tanker and having the special ammo doesent make him better

Well noticed Spit' =p About the PzGr40 : each time I have finished my dotation, I simply ask for a supply drop... otherwise Kev4000 is right.
